A senior officer of the Uttar Pradesh Police of Sunday flagged off seven bomb detection and disposal squad and two anti-sabotage check vehicles that will deployed in different areas of the state.
Flagging off the vehicles from the security headquarters here, Additional Director General of Police (Security) Binod Kumar Singh said bomb detection and disposal squads and anti-sabotage check teams are essential part of the security paraphernalia of the state police.
In a statement, Singh said the bomb detection and disposal squad in Uttar Pradesh started with the creation of five teams in 1987 and the number reached 26 in 2010.

Subsequently, keeping in mind the increasing threat perceptions and security challenges, the Security Department prepared a proposal for the creation of five new BDDS and 10 AS Check teams in 2021 which was sanctioned by the state government.
Thereafter, the purchase of the latest state-of-the-art equipment for new BDDS was done by the security headquarters and the training of manpower was conducted at the NSG camp in Manesar and the Institute of IED Management of the CRPF in Pune.
The new bomb detection and disposal squads will be stationed at the Secretariat complex, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court, the Allahabad High Court in Prayagraj, the Commissionerate in Varanasi, and the 30 BN PAC in Gonda. Besides, two BDDS units and 2 new AS Check teams have been committed for security at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi premises and were flagged off.
