Uncapped Rajat Patidar scored a century, then Royal Challengers Bangalore defended 207/4 to beat Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022 Eliminator. Catch LSG vs RCB highlights and scores.
A new generation of historians are bringing the subject out of the shadow of Marx and Nehru, fulfilling its role of restoring civilisational pride among Indians.
The BJP, with its insistence on the purity of Hindu Rashtra, would sadly reduce the soaring generosity of their founding vision to the petty bigotry of majoritarian chauvinism.
Historiography under previous governments can, and should, be contested. But history that’s being rewritten under the present government is not merely to eulogise some leaders, but also, and more worryingly, to condemn several chapters of the past.
Joy in Eden for Royal Challengers Bangalore! The so-called bridesmaids of IPL beat Lucknow Super Giants by 14 runs to set up a May 27 date with Rajasthan Royals at Ahmedabad. And the occasion will be Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2022. The Eliminator started under ominous circumstances with rain delaying the start of the match at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The playing field at the iconic venue was covered, giving a sense of uncertainty even as the who's of who of world cricket and the ever vociferous Kolkata crowd gathered to witness the knock-out. After a delay of more than an hour, KL Rahul won the toss and opted to bowl first. The decision was vindicated by his pacers, removing the RCB's top three cheaply. But only that much. Then, an uncapped Rajat Patidar changed the course of the match, hitting an unbeaten 112 off 54 balls, laced with 12 fours and seven sixes... as the famed Lucknow pace attack fizzled, with none taking more than a wicket.
Patidar, who came in as an injury replacement late in the season, found a perfect ally in ever-creative Dinesh Karthik (37 not out of 23). The third highest scorer of the innings was Virat Kohli, who laboured to 25 off 24.
The chase also got off to a wobbly start, with Lucknow losing dangerous Quinton de Kock in the first over itself. Manan Vohra also flirted with 19 runs. Then skipper KL Rahul dropped anchor, and together with Deepak Hooda (45 off 26), he kept LSG's hunt alive. But in the penultimate over, Josh Hazlewood snubbed the life out of the debutants with the wickets of Rahul (79 off 58) and Krunal Pandya (0 off 1). In the final over, the equation became 24 off 6. Harshal Patel started with back-to-back wides, and conceded a six off the third. But the RCB pacer still ended up leaking only nine runs. Catch LSG vs RCB, IPL 2022 Eliminator highlights and cricket scores.
Rajat Patidar is of course the player of the match. The youngster feels that his execution went fine and it helped in the long run.
This team never gives up, never surrenders. 💪🏻🙌🏻— Royal Challengers Bangalore (@RCBTweets) May 25, 2022

Losing captain KL Rahul a little earlier stated the obvious. Dropped catches. He also hailed Patidar.
Faf du Plessis said, it's a special day for RCB. They are still chasing that elusive title. New team for him, and he's two wins away from doing what some of the greats have failed to achieve, leading very good RCB teams over the years.
Harshal Patel on with the final over. Evin Lewis creates the first ball, but Wanindu Hasaranga restricts it to a single with a sensational stop at cover. A wide, outside. A dot, and check for run out. Nothing there. Dushmantha Chameera is home. Then a six over long on. 16 in 3 now. Patel comes from around the wicket, and Chameera manages a single. 15 in 2. A swing and miss for dot to Lewis. 15 in 1. And another dot. 1/25 for Patel. RCB win by 14 runs. LSG - 193/6 (20); RCB - 207/4 (20)
Dushmantha Chameera is the new man. And he drills one for a straight for, beating the diving fielder at long off boundary. Nine runs and two wickets in the over. 3/43 for Josh Hazlewood. Lucknow need 24 runs in 6 balls. LSG - 184/6 (19)
Krunal Pandya is the new man. A full toss, and caught ad bowled. First ball duck. Lucknow need 28 runs in 7 balls. LSG - 180/6 (18.5)
Josh Hazlewood on with the penultimate over. A dot to KL Rahul. Just inside the blue line. And a wide, this time outside that line even as Rahul changes his grip and stance. A swinging yorker for a single to long on. Wide, down leg. Hazlewood just misses the target. One more wide, again down leg. Swing and miss, but RCB miss a run-out chance. One bye. Outside off, feeding KL Rahul what he wants. And it goes straight to Shahbaz Ahmed at short fine leg. Leaping catch. Plotting the downfall. Rahul goes for 79 off 58. Lucknow need 28 runs in 8 balls. LSG - 180/5 (18.4)
Power-hitter Evin Lewis is the new man. He takes a single, past cover, and KL Rahul on 77 off 54 is back to take strike. On the leg, and just one to backward square leg. And a dot to end the over. Swing and miss. Eight runs and a wicket from the over. Lucknow need 33 runs in 12 balls. LSG - 175/5 (18)
Harshal Patel on with his third over. Starts with a wide, very very wide wide. It almost became a no ball with the ball landing/pitching outside the pitch.
Another one, in the same corridor and this time it beats Dinesh Karthik too, for five wides. Six runs for zero ball. A bouncer to Marcus Stoinis for a dot. One more slower bouncer for back-to-back dots. A slap and flies straight to Rajat Patidar like a bullet to deep cover point boundary. Caught. Stoinis goes for run-a-ball nine. Lucknow need 35 runs in 15 balls. LSG - 173/4 (17.3)
Wanindu Hasaranga on with his final ove. Two singles and KL Rahul picks the googly, and launches over fine leg for a six. Class. Confidence. And 136th six conceded by RCB, now one more than KKR. Unwanted. And a four, to fine leg. That brings up his 600 runs this IPL. Two singles. 14 from the over. 1/42 for Hasaranga. Lucknow need 41 runs in 18 balls. LSG - 167/3 (17)
Mohammed Siraj (1/31) returns for his final over. Two singles, and a dot. A bouncer, but KL Rahul connects. It sails over long on for a six. 150 up. Lucknow are 11 runs ahead of Bengaluru at this stage. Some fight. A single, past cover. And Siraj sprays. Wide outside out. Under the bat for a dot end the over. 10 from the over. 1/41 for Siraj tonight. Lucknow need 55 runs in 24 balls. LSG - 153/3 (16)
A dot to new man, Marcus Stoinis. The Aussie all-rounder smokes the last one for a six, over deep midwicket. 18 from the over. Lucknow need 65 runs in 30 balls. LSG - 143/3 (15)
Wanindu Hasaranga on with his third over. Deepak Hooda hits the first ball for a six, over deep midwicket. Another swing, but ball keeps low. Almost a stumping. And Hooda comes down. Connects. And six. Over long on. He's loving it. Then, Hasaranga brings his A-game. Middle stump. Bowled. 96-run stand in 61 balls is broken. Hooda goes for 45 off 26. Lucknow need 71 runs in 32 balls. LSG - 137/3 (14.4)
Josh Hazlewood returns for his third over. KL Rahul pulls the first ball for a six, over over deep midwicket. And fifty for the skipper in 43 (two fours and three sixes). A couple to long on. A dot, then a single to backward square leg. Rahul fails to make proper contact. Missed chance. Deepak Hooda stands dismisses the next over for a six, over long on. A full toss but manages only a single to deep. 16 from the over. Lucknow need 83 runs in 36 balls. LSG - 125/2 (14)

Harshal Patel continues. One leg bye, and three singles. 35 runs in the last five over. Lucknow need 106 runs in 48 balls. They are running out of overs. KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda are keeping their cool though. In an unbeaten 61 off 45 balls for the third wicket stand. LSG - 102/2 (12)
Shahbaz Ahmed on with his third over. KL Rahul plays a reverse paddle/sweep and manages to beat Dinesh Karthik for a four. Twi singles. One more. And a dot to Deepak Hooda. The batter loses his bat. It flies. A wide, outside off. A single to the nine-run over. Lucknow need 110 in 54. LSG - 98/2 (11)
Harshal Patel gets his first over. A dot, and a single to short third man. Risky run. A direct hit from Josh Hazlewood would have ended Deepak Hooda's run. And a brilliant effort from Wanindu Hasaranga at third man. He does everything, literally everything to avoid touching the rope after holding onto the ball with a diving effort. Surely not in control as he takes the fall, then contorts his legs and relays the ball. Three runs saved. KL Rahul takes a single off the next. Two more singles. Five from the over. Lucknow need 119 in 60. LSG - 89/2 (10)
Wanindu Hasaranga continues. Five singles, again. 10 from two for Hasa. KL Rahul (34 off 28) and Deepak Hooda (17 off 10) in a 43-run stand. Lucknow need 124 in 66. Almost 12 an over. LSG - 84/2 (9).

Wanindu Hasaranga on. Singles, then a dot to KL Rahul off the third. Three more singles. Five from the over. 54 runs in the last 30 balls. KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda unbeaten on 29 off 21 and 6 off 5. LSG - 67/2 (7)
Mohammed Siraj returns for his third. KL Rahul hits the first ball for a four, over midwicket. Then hooks the second for a six, over backward square leg. And almost a catch for short third man. A bouncer and lands just in front of Josh Hazlewood. KL pulls the next for a six. Wanindu Hasaranga then stops a certain four at backward point. Umpires even checking for a catch. Livewire. Flies off the bat, and just bounces off before grooving into the hands of a diving Hasaranga. A single to end the 17-run over. LSG - 62/2 (6)
Deepak Hooda is the new man. A dot, then another, thanks to a stunning fielding effort from Wanindu Hasaranga at cover. Hooda finds comfort with a four, off the next, through cover. 14 runs and a wicket in Josh Hazlewood's second over. LSG - 45/2 (5)
Josh Hazlewood continues. Manan Vohra flicks the first for a four. And six, over long off. Overpitched and gently lofts. Then, the wicket. Caught by Shahbaz Ahmed at midwicket. Vohra goes for 19 off 11. LSG - 41/2 (4.3)
Shahbaz Ahmed on. And Dinesh Karthik misses a regulation stumping chance, and for byes. Manan Vohra comes down and misses the ball, but DK fails to collect. And six, over deep midwicket. Manan Vohra is the new man. Josh Hazlewood shares the new ball. A dot, then KL Rahul plays the second ball to deep square leg and run three. Mahipal Lomror and Harshal Patel almost do a tag team to let the ball roll over. Desperate attempt to hilarious effect. Five from the over. LSG - 13/1 (2)
Two dots to Quinton de Kock, and one leg bye, to the wicketkeeper. A diving Dinesh Karthik, to his left, fails to collect. A dot to square leg. De Kock then flicks the fifth for a six. Nonchalance personified. And he holes out. Caught by his South African compatriot Faf du Plessis at mid on. He goes for 6 off 5. LSG - 8/1 (1)
Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul to open for LSG. Mohammed Siraj with the new ball. Target - 208 in 120 balls.

Another dot, just inside the white line as DK looks to play a scoop. A dot, then five wides. Bouncer beating everyone. A single to short fine leg to rotate the strike. Patidar pockets the next deep into deep midwicket for a six. A four to fine leg to end the over. 21 from it. 0/54 for Chameera. 77 runs in the last five. Patidar is only the fourth uncapped player to hit a century in the IPL. RCB - 194/4 (19)
Mohsin Khan on with his final over. A couple of dots, and an edge over cover and dropped catch as two fielders converge. Two for the effort. Rajat Patidar then hits the next for a six, over deep square leg for his maiden century, in 50 balls. 11 fours and six sixes. Two dots to end the over. Eight from the over. 1/25 for Mohsin Khan. RCB - 173/4 (18)
Avesh Khan on with his third over. A dot, and over cover for a four for Dinesh Karthik. Another four. Same channel, but driven along the ground. Creamy. And a single deep backward square. Six from the over. RCB - 123/4 (15)
Keep low and dot to new man Dinesh Karthik. And massive shout for LBW. Looks like going down. Completely beaten though. Not out and the decision is challenged. No bat, and hit on the knee-roll. Clipping leg stump, and umpire's call. DK remains not out. Another dot, and a quick single to short fine leg. A single to end a brilliant over. Two runs and a single. RCB - 117/4 (14)
