United States President Donald Trump on Sunday claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin has gone “crazy”, after Russia launched one of its biggest airstrikes of the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, since the start of the war.

What did Trump say?

Trump made the statement on his Truth Social platform asserting that, "I've always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY! He is needlessly killing a lot of people, and I'm not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being shot into Cities in Ukraine, for no reason whatsoever."

He also claimed that Putin's bid to capture all of Ukraine will lead to the “downfall of Russia”. He also criticised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claiming that he is doing “no favours to his country by talking the way he does”.

Trump criticises Zelenskyy

“Everything out of his mouth causes problems, I don’t like it, and it better stop. This is a War that would never have started if I were President. This is Zelenskyy's, Putin's, and Biden's War, not Trump's, I am only helping to put out the big and ugly fires that have been started through Gross Incompetence and Hatred,” he added further.

Trump and Putin had conducted a phone call last month, post which Trump announced that the ceasefire talks will commence immediately.

According to reports, at least 13 people were killed by the strikes carried out in Kyiv. The strike comes after both countries completed their biggest prisoner swap with over 1000 soldiers and civilians sent back by each side.
