Born on December 8, 1966, O'Connor made her mark in the music industry in 1987 with her first album, "The Lion and the Cobra."

She gained widespread recognition in 1990 as an outspoken "protest artist" when she released the powerful ballad "Nothing Compares 2 U," originally written by Prince. The song's music video, featuring a close-up of a tearful O'Connor against a black background, became one of the most iconic visuals of the decade.

O'Connor went on to achieve international fame, having a successful career that included the release of 10 studio albums.

Her life was marked by tragedy, beginning with childhood abuse inflicted by her mother, Marie O'Grady.

She had four brief marriages and was the mother of three children: Jake, Roisin, and Yeshua, besides Shane.
