You live longer and happier if you have music in your life! As people from all over the globe celebrate World Music Day, here’s what your favourite celebrities are listening to.

Lokit Phulwani

Music is extremely important to me. It does help me lift my mood in any situation. I listen when I am working out or going to sleep. I have no plans on learning music as I feel whatever you do, you have to do it with dedication. Currently, with my work, time is constrained. One Bollywood song I love is Kun Faya Kun from Rockstar, it's soothing.

I love raw tribal music and instruments, while I lived in the mountains during the pandemic. I came across many musicians from across the world using such instruments, I own a Table, many flutes, and a harmonium in traditional instruments and in tribal off-beat ones I have a Happy drum, an African Karimba made out of coconut shell. I listen to a lot of devotional chants, as they help me de-stress and Bollywood music is my all-time favourite.

Romiit Raaj

I love Music Hindi Retro songs... I have grown up listening to Rafi and Kishore Kumar, nowadays Arijit Singh's songs are played on a loop. I listen to Lata Mangeshkar, RD Burman, and Kishore Kumar every day for one hour at least. My day starts with Gayatri Mantra by Anuradha Paudwal and Hanuman Chalisa by Udit Narayan. I am learning to play Piano too.

Music is an evident part of my life. I have music playing on my speaker almost all day long. My speaker and AirPods are important parts of my daily carriables. I learned to play guitar in my childhood. My Bollywood run to the song when I am sad is Jab koi baat bigad jaye.

A world without music would be a disaster. Music is something that fulfils the soul, I feel. Anywhere, at any given time, alone or with friends, a quiet night or a party, music adds life to the place and creates a vibe around us. I’m a music lover. I’ve always had portable speakers with me ever since I was a teenager. So, I would carry them with me on my outdoor shoots. I have a set of speakers in my makeup room on the set of Anupamaa. I listen to music while getting ready. Music relaxes me and is a stress buster in its own way. Also, dancing is my passion and music is the most integral part. I haven’t learned music as such but yes, I had started to learn to play the Guitar during lockdown. I had a teacher who would give me online lessons. I’m planning to resume it again hopefully soon. My all-time fav is Justin Beiber.

Music is very important, it gives us wings and makes us fly, it takes me to so many worlds, and so many memories, and it evokes so many thoughts. I cry, laugh, dance, and meditate with music. I listen to music for 6-7 hours every day. In the morning, I listen to Indian classical music, then sometimes later, I change this to Bollywood. If I really want to listen to some soulful numbers, then I listen to Lataji as well and I am also fond of ghazals. My mother and I learned music, and the teacher used to come home to teach both of us. For some years, we learned a lot of raags, and we were going very well, then my father got transferred. and never picked up from there, lost forever. I plan to learn the flute, for me, the most beautiful music comes from the most natural instrument. You can take it anywhere and play, such soulful music comes from it.

Music is pretty essential and an important part of my life. Music also is like medicine to your mind and your heart. I listen to a lot of Sufi music which calms your soul and takes you down memory lane. I haven’t been trained in music but I would love to learn to play the piano as it fascinates me. I would love to play some romantic, beautiful tunes on it. My favourite Bollywood song would be Lambi Judaai from the film Hero of Jackie Shroff.

June 21st is Music Day, as well as Yoga Day, and I believe both are very important for your physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Music is the nourishment for the soul, while yoga takes care of the body. Although I don't play music or have learned it formally, music plays a significant role in my life. It serves as a source of comfort and joy during low moments and enhances the good times. In fact, even during yoga sessions, soothing and yogic music holds great importance. Similarly, when I'm at the gym, having music that aligns with my preferences is crucial. Music has become an inseparable part of my life. There's a Bollywood song I've been listening to for a long time, "Ek Din Bik Jayega Maati Ke Mol."

Like a lot of people out there, I love my music. My favourite thing in the world is to go on a drive with music playing on the car stereo. It lifts my mood and makes everything fade into the background. Not like I spend dedicated hours listening. Whenever I have time on my hands, I keep listening to something or the other. I usually put it on auto mode on an app, and the music keeps cycling through some surprisingly good recommendations. No, I have not. But I would really love to. I have a few friends who are music composers and I plan to bug them to teach me. I hope they are reading this so they see it coming. I bought a guitar but am guilty of not spending enough time practicing! I would love to take vocal training. I remember being invited as a guest as a function with Usha Mangeshkar ji in the audience and then being asked to come to the stage and sing. Surprisingly, it looks like I did a good job since the audience wholeheartedly applauded and she invited me to have lunch with her and her family! I was very touched. There are actually quite a few. One is “Phir le aaya dil…” from Barfi sung beautifully by Arijit Singh. One more is “ Sachhi Mohhabt ….” from Manmarziyan by Jonita Gandhi.

Music saved me. It saved my life. Music serves as a means of healing and togetherness. Music is the only way I can express my feelings and myself. The music I make defines who I am. Music is a language for emotion. It allows us to express feelings we can't quite describe or feel verbally. My new release “90’s ke Ladke” is one of the example of my passion for music. Music is an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through rhythm, melody, harmony, and color. Music is a massive part of life; without music, this world would have been boring.

Music is magic. I think most of the complicated things in life are meant to be sorted by our subconscious mind. Listening to music heals me in ways that I still don't fully understand. It's therapeutic and irreplaceable. Creating music feels like a medium to express all the things that I go through and hope that people relate to it. To be a part of someone's Playlist and have the ability to change their mood in 3 minutes is a superpower I value a lot. My new release “90’s ke Ladke” is an ode that makes up so much of who I am.

Music is a source of solace to me. My mother is a musician, and I have fond memories of listening her sing and play instruments while growing up. She is the ultimate inspiration for me to pursue music passionately. I have produced and composed many music albums and wish to record more. Apart from singing, I can play guitar. I like to sing or create music in my studio whenever I am not shooting. Apart from my mother, I have always admired Kishore Kumar Ji and Mohammed Rafi Ji. Both have created some of the greatest music of all time. There is no comparison to the calibre, dedication, and sincerity they have shown towards music. The world would be colourless without music, so enjoy your favourite music this World Music Day.

Music gives me a sense of comfort and elevates my mood. I like listening to sufi, ghazals, classical music, and Bollywood chartbusters. One of my favourite singers is the legendary Asha Bhosle Ji. She is the melody queen, and I grew up listening to her. She has been an inspiration not just for me but for millions. I am so glad that World Music Day reminds us that we must take time off from our hectic lives and rejuvenate.

Music is in my blood, as I come from a family with a strong interest in art. I can sing decently and play table masterfully. I learned to play tabla during my school days and practice it as a hobby till date. I got interested in music because of my sisters. My elder sister plays the sitar wonderfully, while my younger sister is a singer. So, whenever they used to play the sitar and sing, I used to play the tabla for them. I prefer classical music and love Mohammad Rafi and Manna Dey's songs. Also, singers like Kishore Kumar Ji, KJ Yesudas Ji, Pankaj Udhas Ji, and Lata Mangeshkar Ji are some of my favourites. I wish you all a happy World Music Day.
