The Odyssey's OTT release is set to follow a strategy Christopher Nolan previously used for Oppenheimer. The filmmaker’s latest epic has enjoyed an extended theatrical run and will now make the transition to home entertainment, giving audiences another opportunity to watch the film outside cinemas.
Starring Matt Damon, Tom Holland and Anne Hathaway, The Odyssey has been one of the biggest Hollywood releases of 2026. Its digital rollout comes after a strong worldwide theatrical performance and a number of major box-office milestones.
The Odyssey Digital Release Details
According to Variety, The Odyssey will be available to rent and purchase digitally from November 17. The film will also be released on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on the same day.
The digital release comes 123 days after the film opened in cinemas on July 17. This matches the theatrical window used for Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which also spent 123 days in cinemas before becoming available digitally and on premium home-entertainment formats in November 2023.
The strategy gives The Odyssey a longer theatrical window than many major studio releases, particularly as the film continues to benefit from premium formats such as IMAX.

The Odyssey has reportedly earned around $1.352 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing R-rated film ever. It is also only the third R-rated film to cross the $1 billion mark globally, following Joker and Deadpool & Wolverine.
The film has surpassed The Dark Knight Rises to become Nolan’s highest-grossing movie. Its IMAX run has also set a new record for the format.
Based on Homer’s ancient Greek epic, The Odyssey follows Odysseus, played by Damon, as he attempts to return home after the Trojan War. Nolan’s film also stars Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland and a large ensemble cast.
