ISL 2019-20, Jamshedpur FC Vs Odisha FC, Highlights: Sergio Castel Beauty Gives 10-Men Hosts 2-1 Win

Jamshedpur FC showed the hunger and determination to beat visiting Odisha FC despite losing a man in their Indian Super League (ISL) 2019-20 opener at The Furnace on Tuesday. Catch highlights of the match here

Man of the match Farukh Choudhary forced an own goal off Rana Gharami in the 17th minute, but Aridane Santana produced a sublime volley to equalised after Bikash Jairu was sent off for a sliding tackle on ever-impressive Jerry Mawhmingthanga. Despite having a one-man advantage, Odisha FC failed to kill off the match and allowed Jamshedpur to dictate the proceedings at JRD Tata Sports Complex. Tireless Sergio Castel then scored the winner five minutes from the regulation time. That's all for tonight. Tomorrow, pre-season favourites FC Goa host former champions Chennaiyin FC at Fatorda.

53' - Sergio Castel almost beats Francisco Dorronsoro from a distance, but the Odisha goalie up to the challenge.

51' - Aniket Jadhav goes about swinging his elbow, not once but twice hitting Odisha players. Narayan Das on the floor and referee shows the yellow card to the youngster.

48' - A shout for a penalty as Joyner Lourenco tackles a Nandhakumar Sekar inside the box, but the first touch was from the Jamshedpur defender.

46' - First change of the match. Noe Acosta replaced by Memo as Jamshedpur seek experience in the midfield after losing Bikash Jairu.

Hosts Jamshedpur FC dominated possession even though Odisha FC had the better chances, then an own goal from Rana Gharami gave the hosts lead. But they lost the advantage after a direct red card to Bikash Jairu, who lunged on Jerry Mawhmingthanga. Then,  Aridane Santana connects a volley to level score. Player of the match so far is Mawhmingthanga, who is turning up the heat against his former club.

42' - Xisco Hernandez gets chance to increase the lead after Jerry Mawhmingthanga sends a teasing cross, but the Spaniard is caught off-side.

40' - GOAL! What a strike! Aridane Santana drills a volley to equalise for Odisha. No chance for Subrata Paul.

38' - Tiri, trying to make the most out of a collision with fellow Spaniard Aridane Santana.

35' -RED CARD! STRAIGHT.  What drama! Last man defending and tripping Jerry Mawhmingthanga. Bikash Jairu sent off. But the real culprit was Keegan Pereira, who failed to track the attacker. Free-kick to Odisha.

33' - Clear foul from Narayan Das, and Piti is down. No card. Lucky for Das to escape unbooked. But free-kick to Jharkhand in a dangerous spot.

28' - First booking for the night with Xisco Hernandez drawing one from Aitor Monroy after a blistering run in the midfield. But Odisha fail to make the most out of it.

26' - Jamshedpur win back-to-back throws on the right flank. Then roles back to build another attack. Anikhet Jhadav losses control near Odisha box.

24' - With Jerry Mawhmingthanga on the ball, Odisha try to create a move. But ends up Xisco Hernandez getting a knock in the build-up. No call from the ref.

23' - Farukh Choudhary, switching flanks, gets head-on with Marcos Tebar. Free kick to Jamshedpur. From the set play, Sergio Castel tries to beat Francisco Dorronsoro, but his attempt was shot from the right flank. More of a miscue.

20' - After that lucky break, Jamshedpur sure gets the confidence. Aniket Jadhav just tests Francisco Dorronsoro from close range.

17' - OWN GOAL! Tragedy strikes Odisha. An own goal. Piti, against the run of play, launches the ball for Farukh Choudhary, then a cross. And Rana Gharami guides the ball into his own goal.

10' - And Odisha get the first attempt, on target after a brilliant play from young Jerry Mawhmingthanga. Aridane Santana should have done better from the goal-mouth.

9' - Sergio Castel is making a meal of harmless puss and body contacts, holding hands over his head as if Odisha players are after him.

7' - Narayan Das' lunging tackle on Aniket Jadhav results in a free-kick for Jamshedpur. Piti tries to wield magic his foot, but Francisco Dorronsoro stands tall and collects.

4' - Farukh Choudhary wastes a good supply, settling for the first corner of the match. Jamshedpur are enjoying a good spell. From the following play, Choudhary was fouled bu continue, then caught off-side.

Eastern India's latest football rivalry will see two Spanish coaches and a clutch of players match their wits and skills when Jamshedpur FC host Odisha FC tonight. Veteran Indian stars CK Vineeth and Subrata Paul will provide local knowledge to new Jamshedpur coach Anotonio Iriondo. Paul has been one of the safest hands in Indian football while Vineeth's scoring prowess has given teams a handy edge upfront. 

Similarly, Vineet Rai promise as a sparkling youngster will be tested as Odisha FC coach Joseph Gombau will bank on an experienced mid-field that will have the enigmatic Marcos Tebar and Xisco Hernandez.
