The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday said all COVID-19 hotspots in 15 districts of the state will be sealed till April 15 to check the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

"All coronavirus hotspots in 15 districts will be completely sealed till April 15 morning. Only home delivery will be allowed. These are places where a number of COVID-19 cases have been found," Director, Information, Shishir said.

"100% lockdown will be enforced only in the hotspots of the 15 districts, other areas in the districts will follow the guidelines of previous lockdown. There is no need to panic," Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Awanish Awasthi said.

"There are 22 hotspots in Agra, 13 in Ghaziabad, 12 in Gautam Budh Nagar, 12 in Kanpur, 4 in Varanasi, 3 in Shamli, 7 in Meerut, 1 in Bareilly, 3 in Bulandshahr, 3 in Basti, 3 in Firozabad, 4 in Saharanpur, 4 in Maharajganj, 1 in Sitapur and 8 big and 4 small in Lucknow," Awasthi added. 

Wearing of masks has also been made compulsory in the state. There can be legal action for not wearing masks, he said.
