With so many intellectuals—novelists, professors, academics, vice-chancellors—rushing in to engage in public issues frontally, I am reminded of the definition of an intellectual provided by the great English poet, W.H. Auden. He said that for the common man, an intellectual is a person "who cheats on his wife".
