Thailand: In a country where tourism contributes 50 per cent to forex, European tourists made up almost half of the 2,400 dead and a large number missing. Phang Nga province was the worst hit; only one hotel was left standing in Ko Phi Phi.
Malaysia: It escaped the worst of the attack, but even so is reporting 66 deaths.
