Recently, an entertainment portal claimed that Aamir Khan is "closely following the updates on the Meghalaya Murder case" for his next film. Aamir has refuted the rumour. Here's what he has said.
Aamir Khan reacts to making a film on the Meghalaya murder case
Dismissing the report, Aamir told Bollywood Hungama, "There is absolutely no truth to it" and added, "I honestly don't know where these stories start."
How did the rumour start?
Times Now report quoted sources allegedly close to the actor, saying, "Aamir Khan is closely following the updates on the Meghalaya murder case. He has personally tracked and discussed with his close circle the updates on the details. There might be a development on the subject from his production too."
About Meghalaya murder case
Meghalaya murder case is about Sonam, the wife accused of murdering her husband Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi during their honeymoon. She was arrested with her ‘lover’ Raj Kushwaha and three others for planning and executing the murder of Raja.
As per police, Sonam and Raj confessed to killing Raja.
Meanwhile, Sonam has completed one month in Shillong jail.
Aamir Khan work front
Coming back to Aamir Khan, he is currently basking in the success of recently released movie, Sitaare Zameen Par. Released in June this year, the sports drama has emerged victorious at the box office. A report in Sacnilk claims that the film made Rs 262.75 crore worldwide in just 31 days. It earned Rs 197.5 crore in India, and collected Rs 65.25 crore overseas.
Next, Aamir has Rajinikanth's Coolie, which releases on August 14, 2025. He is having a cameo appearance in the film. Earlier, in an interview with Zoom, Khan had said he is a big fan of Rajinikanth and has a lot of love and respect for him. The actor revealed he did the film without reading the script, and really enjoyed doing it. "When Lokesh told me that it is a Rajini sir's movie and that he wanted me to do a cameo, I said, 'Done. I am doing it. Whatever it is, I am doing it'," he added.
