According to Google, Mumbai Indians have a 59% chance of winning tonight's fixture against Lucknow Super Giants, who stand a 41% of winning. However, MI have not had the best of head-to-head record against LSG, registering only two wins in the six matches played against them.
Big news coming in from Wankhede. Firstly, Hardik Pandya is unwell and Suryakumar Yadav is leading MI in his absence. Secondly, Rohit Sharma is finally back from his hamstring injury layoff. Further, Josh Inglis makes his debut for the Super Giants.
As for the toss, Suryakumar wins it and elects to bowl first.

Deepak Chahar has the brand new white ball in hand for MI, and Mitchell Marsh takes strike against him with LSG debutant Josh Inglis at the non-striker's end. Marsh gets going with an authoritative pull for six off the second ball, and a glorious lofted drive to the fence off the next. Chahar bowls one too short and the next too full, and pays the price for both.
LSG: 11/0 (1)
Josh Inglis hits three boundaries off his first four balls in IPL 2026 before mistiming a pull off Ghazanfar to MI captain Suryakumar at mid-on. Nicholas Pooran joins Marsh and makes full use of the powerplay restrictions, smashing Will Jacks for three sixes in the fifth over. Jasprit Bumrah, meanwhile, continues to struggle, going for 31 runs in his first two overs.
LSG: 71/1 (5)
Nicholas Pooran comes alive, and how! The West Indies southpaw shows just how dangerous he is, when on song as he clobbers a 16-ball fifty for LSG. Him and Marsh have made a mockery of the MI bowling, and if either of them stays at the crease for long, expect a humongous total for Lucknow.
Corbin Bosch gets the rampaging Pooran to glove one down the leg side, and then has Marsh caught at deep midwicket. Rishabh Pant comes in and scores a busy 10-ball 15 before under-edging Will Jacks' delivery to MI 'keeper Ryan Rickelton. Lucknow stuttering a bit in the middle overs, though their run rate still is a staggering 14-plus runs per over.
LSG: 155/4 (11)
That Jasprit Bumrah has been off-colour so far in IPL 2026 is known to all. But there are further worrying signs for the India bowling spearhead, as he has sent down three front-foot no-balls already this innings. Two of them came off back-to-back balls, in the 14th over. The first of those deprived Bumrah of a wicket as Himmat Singh's caught-behind is nullified with the seamer overstepping.
LSG: 175/5 (15)
Bumrah recovers from his horror third over to bowl a far better fourth one. He concedes just seven runs in the 19th over of the innings and Deepak Chahar follows it up with another excellent six balls to give away just six runs.
LSG looked like amassing a 250-plus total but have been limited to 228 for five instead. Would that be enough in conditions as batting-friendly as these? We shall find out soon.
LSG: 228/5 (20)
Right, then. Rohit Sharma is officially back after a four-match absence. He walks out to open the batting for MI alongside Ryan Rickelton, as an impact substitute for Raghu. Mohammed Shami takes the new ball and concedes two boundaries, both off outside edges, in the first over.
MI: 10/0 (1)
Rickelton is teeing off in the powerplay! The Proteas wicketkeeper-batter has already clattered four fours and two sixes to get to 31 not out off 13 balls. Rohit, meanwhile, gets going with a pick-up six off Shami but is beaten off back-to-back Mohsin Khan deliveries in the fourth over.
MI: 44/0 (4)
Rohit is bringing Wankhede to raptures! After a relatively sluggish start, he rips into Avesh Khan, dispatching the seamer for two sixes and as many fours in the final over of the powerplay. He then lofts M Siddharth over long on to heighten the cheers.
MI: 87/0 (7)
There it is! Rickelton gets to fifty and so does Rohit, eliciting hearty applause from all quarters. The left-hander has batted more aggressively, but it is Rohit's knock which might have really enthused the crowd and team management, given that he's making a comeback from injury. The asking rate has dipped below 11 and Mumbai are in cruise control.
MI: 127/0 (10)
Rickelton and Rohit further up the tempo after their fifties, and both fall short of hundreds in the process. The South African batter finds cover to depart for a sensational 32-ball 83, while Rohit holes out to Shami at short fine leg for a 44-ball 84. The Mumbai veteran gets a standing ovation, as he leaves after laying the perfect foundation for MI's biggest successful run chase.
MI: 177/2 (14)
Tilak Varma scratches around for a while before falling for a 13-ball 11 to M Siddharth. MI stand-in skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir have since looked to mix aggression with caution, taking Mumbai closer and closer to their 229-run target.
MI: 202/3 (17)
Will Jacks finishes it off in style! The Englishman conjures a picture-perfect lofted drive through the off side for six, and Mumbai Indians complete their highest successful run chase! They gun down the 229-run target in 18.4 overs to snap a three-match losing streak. As for LSG, the disappointment prolongs as it's a sixth defeat on the bounce for Rishabh Pant and Co.
MI: 229/4 (18.4) beat LSG: 228/5 (20) by six wickets
