Yesterday's results shook up things a bit with CSK toppling KKR to go 9th, thanks to the South Indian outfit's victory over Delhi Capitals. Punjab Kings remained 2nd despite winning against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Check the points table right here.
LSG defeated KKR by 3 wickets in a final-ball thriller. Chasing 182, LSG required 14 runs off the last over; Mukul Choudhary (42* off 19) sealed the win with a boundary on the final delivery. Earlier, LSG’s spinners restricted KKR to 181/7, with Ravi Bishnoi taking 3/22.
Gujarat Titans secured a dramatic one-run victory over Delhi Capitals. Defending 210, Rashid Khan’s clinical 3/17 proved decisive as the Capitals fell just short at 209/8. Half-centuries from Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar ensured GT successfully held their nerve in a final-ball thriller.
Gujarat Titans have won the toss and they will be bowling first against the Lucknow Super Giants.

Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh have come out to the crease for this important 1st innings at Ekana Stadium. Markram faces the first ball from Mohammed Siraj.
Kagiso Rabada gets his revenge. Delivering a back-of-length ball outside off that held in the surface, he induced a mistimed aerial shot from Mitchell Marsh. The ball was easily swallowed by Shubman Gill, ending Marsh's brief cameo of 11.
Shubman Gill’s gamble to give Mohammed Siraj a third consecutive over paid off handsomely. Pant attempted to loft a delivery that wasn't quite full enough, resulting in a massive miscue.
The ball swirled high toward the cover region, where Rahul Tewatia maintained focus to pouch a well-judged catch moving to his left.
Lucknow Super Giants find themselves in trouble. Aiden Markram desperately went for the hits and after finding two boundaries back-to-back, including a dropped catch from Glenn Phillips, Markram finds the deep mid-wicket fielder. LSG doesn't have a big score on the board and they have lost their bankable top three. George Linde will definitely have to be used as an all-rounder here.
With Prasidh Krishna, Ashok Sharma and Rashid Khan in attack, Nicholas Pooran and Abdul Samad didn't get any breathing space. They continue to rotate strike and waiting for getting a loose delivery to pounce on. Pooran has been more of an understudy, opting for a slow start while, Abdul Samad has attacked Kagiso Rabada to amp up their scoring rate. LSG will need more big shots to get to a strong total.
Nicholas Pooran secured a good over against Rashid Khan where he charged against the veteran spinner and smashed him for two sixes. As it looked like he has teed off, he fell in the next over trying to take on Prasidh Krishna. Played a forehand shot to access the down the ground area against Prasidh Krishna and ended up finding the mid-off fielder. Pooran's departure has pushed LSG to the edge who now are looking towards Mukul Choudhary and Abdul Samad to fire.
LSG are crumbling at their home in Ekana. After Abdul Samad's dismissal George Linde came in and it looked like he can stitch a partnership with Mukul Choudhary, who is coming our from a match-winning knock. But despite Mukul getting better of Kagiso Rabada, Prasidh Krishna continued to trouble him with short ball and finally got him to nick one on the way to the wicketkeeper. This has been an underwhelming batting performance from LSG.
Despite the struggle throughout the death overs, Lucknow Super Giants manage to grab 18 runs off the last over. Mohammed Shami started off with a huge six and then in the next ball, Rashid Khan dropped a catch of him. George Linde joined in with a four although he departed next ball. Avesh Khan also chipped in with a handy four and a wide towards the end helped LSG get to 164. GT will still be happy with their bowling effort and will back themselves to chase this target down.
In their signature style, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill have taken no risks and are off to a steady start. They have played strokes which are not risky and yet they have found boundaries. LSG possess threat with the new ball and if GT can counter it, they will have the upper hand in the game. Mohammed Shami is back with the second over of his new ball spell.
Gujarat Titans were just about to end the powerplay with a strong start but Digvesh Rathi says no as he dismisses Sai Sudharsan in the first ball of his first over. In the 5th over, Shubman Gill took on Mohammed Shami and smashed him for 20 runs. Chasing a mere 165, Gill and Sudharsan were running away with the game. Digvesh Rathi comes in the sixth over, Sudharsan goes for the sweep and miscues it to the hands of the short fine leg fielder. LSG are elated. So is Digvesh, who brings out his signature celebration.
It is a surface that has assisted the spinners well and Lucknow Super Giants were suffocated in the middle overs. Gujarat Titans want to avoid that and with set Shubman Gill on one end, he has taken on spin and milked it as necessary to gather runs. The required run rate is not too high and GT are cruising in the chase comfortably. Gill and Buttler are stitching a steady partnership here.
It has been a easy ride for Gujarat Titans so far. A set Shubman Gill along with a functioning Jos Buttler make a great pair and the duo has been comfortably keeping up with the asking rate and guiding their team home. Gill has already completed his half-century and is looking to see out the chase. Rishabh Pant is having little to no option in his hand right now.
Is there a twist in the tale? Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler depart in consecutive overs and two new batters come out on the crease with conditions not so easy for the batters. Only 29 needed from 24 balls and GT are still firmly added. Yet, the wickets generate firm believe in the defenders. Gill was surprised by a bouncer from Prince Yadav. Jos Buttler meanwhile, got holed out in the deep against Mohammed Shami. Things get interesting from here on.
There was an artificial excitement for a moment after Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler were dismissed but Gujarat Titans never felt troubled as Washington Sundar's cameo took them over the finishing line. Lucknow Super Giants didn't have enough runs on the board and GT never felt the pressure of a big score. They paced it in their way and cruised to the win. Rishabh Pant will be disappointed as batting is becoming a concern for LSG going forward. Shubman Gill will be happy with how the bowlers bowled, his and Buttler's form and the winning momentum.
"See, definitely not enough runs. There's nothing. from the fact that they bowled well. I think in a wicket like this, a score like 170 to 180 is a really good score. But, you know, the wicket kept on falling and they put enough pressure on us to get those wickets going. See, definitely in a wicket like this, like I said, 170 to 180 is a good score. But at the same time, you know, you still have opportunities. I wouldn't say I'm a hard guy. So there were opportunities in the game. We just couldn't grab it enough.
(Talks about the batting line-up) See, definitely it's a great lineup. But the tournament has just started here, you know. We're not putting pressure on players because especially the senior guys, they know what to do. Yeah, there are times when you perform and you just couldn't. But at the same time, you know, the trust and belief in the camp is enough. And we know he's going to come soon enough. It's always positive".
"Yes, for sure. I mean, the way we bowled in the powerplay was very impressive. And I think how we kept the pressure in the middle overs was also tremendous by the bowlers. Makes my life very easy, you know. The way I think he's bowling at the moment, Rashid, getting us back in the game every time, you know, another bowler is under pressure. So makes my life very easy. Gets the wicket, gets the dot balls, and it's very hard to hit him.
I think in the first six overs, it's all about, it's very difficult to do the simple things because you might sometimes get much ahead in the game. So it's important to come back and realize, you know, what are the simple things that I need to do right now in the moment. And I think in this match, he did that really well. The first over that he bowled was spot on. And then in the third over, how he kept his length and did the simple things and that got us back in the game, how Siraj bowled and even, I think, how KG went for a few runs. But I think he was spot on with his length. He was a little bit unlucky. Few played on and a few good shots, but that happens in a T20 game.
Yeah, it wasn't easy. You know, in the last, I think, two or three overs, we went for a little bit more, especially in the back end of the innings. I felt we gave like 10 runs extra how where we were in the game with them six or seven down. But definitely we would have taken at the start of the innings, we would have taken 160 on this wicket. (Asked about Gill's batting) Yeah, definitely very happy, you know, back-to-back 50s for me and Jos for both of us. So definitely looking in good touch".
"I think the most important thing was the victory for us as a team. We've been working really hard, doing a lot of things right. We always look to play a good brand of cricket, and I think I'm just here taking the laurels of all the pressure that's created by our other bowlers on the other side. I would say it's a mix of all. If you've played a lot of cricket, you understand, you know, you'll be able to react every single time something happens in the ground. But even otherwise, at practice is something. You sit together as a team. You have a lot of experience in our dressing room. So just make sure you get a piece of each one's brain and make use of that on the ground.
Definitely a lot of practice. You need to bowl a lot of them in the nets and then feel good about it as a bowler before you can bring it onto the game. So, yeah, it does take a lot of hard work, a lot of time, a lot of effort in the nets. A tired body and one day you'll get the fruits of it. It was a little tiring in the afternoon for sure, but yeah, happy the win takes care of everything".
Prasidh Krishna wins the player of the match award for his spell of 4/28 which helped GT restrict LSG to a mere 164/8.
