This marked their first semi-final appearance since 2013, having secured hard-fought wins over El Salvador and Curacao. They have lost just once in their last five games, winning the other four, but their record against Mexico is not so strong.
In their last 24 matches against El Tri across all competitions, Honduras have won just six times overall, but twice in their last five meetings.
