Kevin Pietersen is not one to shy away from expressing strong opinions, as also indulging in acerbic banter. The former England batter, an ardent supporter of the famed Chelsea football club, has now taken a dig at Arsenal after the Blues blanked Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 in the final to lift the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 trophy.
Arsenal finished second in the English Premier League’s 2024-25 season and have not won any titles in the last two years. Their most recent piece of silverware came from the 2023 FA Community Shield, where the Gunners beat Manchester City 4–1 on penalties (after a 1‑1 draw) in August 2023 at the Wembley Stadium.
As for Arsenal's last major trophy, that remains the 2020 FA Cup, won in August 2020 with a 2–1 victory over Chelsea – a brace by Pierre‑Emerick Aubameyang sealed the title. But the Blues, in contrast, have claimed two trophies in less than two months: first, the UEFA Conference League which was their fifth European trophy, and then the FIFA Club World Cup.
And that handed enough ammunition for Pietersen to write on social media platform X: "Imagine that feeling of continuing to win football trophies. I mean, 2 of them in a couple months. Maybe @ChelseaFC should lend @Arsenal one for a few weeks, to show them what winning looks like. Would be a great gesture."
The tweet went viral, evoking plenty of reactions from all around, with many joining the Briton in ridiculing the Gunners. This was not the first time that Pietersen jabbed at Arsenal, having tweeted similar cheeky posts earlier too.
Meanwhile, he continues to opine on all things cricket, taking special interest in the ongoing India vs England Test series. He appreciated India's aggressive spirit and also indirectly predicted that the 193-run target could prove to be a challenging one for Shubman Gill's men.
The five-match India vs England Test series is level 1-1, and whoever wins the third Test will gain a massive advantage, heading into the penultimate encounter at Manchester.
