Summary of this article

  • Finn Allen was bat as impact player as KKR are bowling first against SRH

  • Allen scored 37 off 17 balls against MI in the last match

  • KKR lost their first match against MI by 6 wickets

Kolkata Knight Riders win a crucial toss against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and elect to field first in match 6 of the Indian Premier League 2026 at the iconic Eden Gardens.

It has been a trend for teams in this season to chase the target and have successfully chased them down in all five matches played so far.

At toss, the exclusion of Finn Allen from the playing XI raised some eyebrows but his name was there as an Impact substitution, which probably indicate that the Kiwi batter will most likely open for KKR in the second innings as KKR are batting second.

According to revised rules, teams bring two sheets during the toss and choose which team to play on the basis of the outcome of the toss. If KKR had batted, then Finn Allen most probably would have been in the playing XI.

Allen made his debut for KKR against MI in the last match and blazed a quick-fire 37 off just 17 balls to forge a 69-run opening stand with Ajinkya Rahane.

Both teams lost their first match of IPL 2026 and would want to get the first two points in the bank by winning today's match. SRH lost the first match against RCB by 6 wickets, while KKR were also handed a six-wicket defeat by MI.

The 2024 finalists had a poor last season, and this year, they also didn't get a good start. Both teams are relying heavily on their batting line-up as their bowling has looked a bit short. While KKR have a strong spin duo of Narine and Chakravarthy, their poor form has not helped their cause yet.
