Mrs Kaur exists—she’s the owner’s mom. But sarson ka saag and palak gosht are probably easier to find in her recipe book than a delectable Crepe Florentine, oozing spinach and cheese. Does it matter? Mom’s cooking or not, the crepes at this cheerful cafe in Khan Market’s potholed but popular food alley are feathery light—thanks, we hear, to training by an angrez chef, and occasional tweaking of recipes by a Frenchwoman (Madame Coeur, if you like) living in Delhi. She should do something about the Crepe Breton with its indigestible topping of overcooked scrambled egg.

But that, really, is the only complaint. On the day we lunched here, the Florentine was superb, and the sweet crepes—an apple-and-butterscotch confection and the classic lemon-and-sugar—were sensational. There’s other stuff too, of the pasta-ghasphoos variety, but sensibly, most patrons come for the crepes. Since the place opens early (6.30 am!) you can even have them for breakfast, in the company of Lodi Garden joggers and self-destructive early morning victims of the dentist round the corner.
