Days after the death of seven people due to a BEST bus accident in Kurla, a 25-year-old man was pronounced dead after he was run over by a BEST bus in Govandi area.
As per police officials, the incident took place on Saturday night at Shivaji Nagar Junction. As reported by ANI, the victim - Dikshit Vinod Rajput was on his motorcycle at the time of the accident.
The bus was heading towards the Kurla bus depot from Shivaji Nagar when the victim's two-wheeler came in contact with one of the rear tyres of the bus, said a police official.
Speaking to ANI, a police official shared that the biker suffered a severe head injury and was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The driver and conductor of the bus - Vinod Aabaji Rankhambe and Avinash Vikramrao Gite have been arrested and booked under the relevant sections of the new Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) Act.
7 Dead In Kurla Bus Tragedy
This accident comes days after a BEST bus crashed into several people and vehicles in Mumbai's Kurla region. As per reports, the driver of the BEST bus lost control of the vehicle, causing the bus to ram into passengers and vehicles over a 110-metre stretch.
A total of seven people died due to the accident and around 42 were left injured. Police have arrested the driver of the bus - Sanjay More and was sent into police custody till December 21.
