Madhya Pradesh: Police Arrests Three For Holding Two Tribal Brothers Captive, Beating Them

Two tribal brothers, including a minor boy, were held captive and abused for hours in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The police were able to arrest three of the accused involved in the case.

Madhya Pradesh Police arrested three men involved in holding two tribal brothers, including a minor boy captive and allegedly thrashing them. The incident occurred in Indore after the brothers met with an accident and had an altercation with the accused. 

A video of the two brothers being physically abused is circulating on social media, the state police took cognisance of it and identified the accused. They arrested the accused who have been identified as Sumit Chowdhary, Jaipal Singh Baghel and Prem Singh Parmar.

This abuse of tribals in Madhya Pradesh comes only a few days after a video showing a man urinating on a tribal person caused outrage on social media. The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister met with the victim and apologised for such treatment as he washed the feet of the tribal person. The accused have also been arrested.

According to the reports, Deputy Commissioner of Police Aditya Mishra reportedly said that two brothers including an 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy fell on the road as their bike skidded in the Rau police station area on Friday. 

The road accident led to an altercation with the accused and following that, the two were allegedly taken to a security guard's room where they were beaten up. Reportedly the victims were released in the morning.

According to the reports, DCP Mishra informed the media that the brothers were admitted to a hospital and their conditions were told to be stable.

Reportedly, the accused were booked under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.

DCP Mishra also said that the video that has been circulating of this incident shows the involvement of some other people as well and the people are searching for them.
