Jio Studios on Tuesday unveiled the teaser of Raja Shivaji. The historical action drama is headlined and directed by Riteish Deshmukh, marking his return to direction after his 2022 Marathi hit Ved.
Riteish is playing the titular character of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan, Genelia Deshmukh, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Boman Irani, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, and Amol Gupte round out the cast of Raja Shivaji.

In the over two-minute-long video, we get glimpses of Sambhaji Shahaji Bhosale (Abhishek Bachchan) and Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's fight against Afzal Khan (Sanjay Dutt) for swarajya (self-rule).
The teaser also featured other cast members. Mounted on an epic scale, the historical drama promises a grand visual spectacle. There is emotion, grandeur and heroism in a narrative rooted in the birth of Swarajya.
Sanjay looked menacing as a Mughal ruler who wants to take over the Marathas. The teaser starts with a powerful dialogue by Dutt's character, and he also kills Lakhuji Jadhav, played by Manjrekar.
Genelia plays Saibai, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's wife.
The project is produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia Deshmukh, with music composed by Ajay-Atul and cinematography by Santosh Sivan. Raja Shivaji is slated for worldwide theatrical release on May 1, 2026, in Marathi, Hindi, and Telugu.
