England beat India by an innings and 76 runs in third Test to level five-match series 1-1. It was supposed to be now or never for India but disciplined England bowlers snared wickets at regular intervals on Day 4 to help hosts level the series and secure an emphatic win in the 3rd Test at Headingley, Leeds. After the opening day capitulation and the subsequent punishment on the following day, India had fought back on Day 3 to keep their slim hopes of saving the third Test match alive. But Ollie Robinson (5/65) and Craig Overton (3/47) struck at regular intervals to ensure an easy win for hosts with a day to spare. On the penultimate day today, Virat Kohli & Co needed to show greater purpose and hope for the best but the slide started when Cheteshwar Pujara, who so valiantly thwarted the English attack to resurrect the Indian innings, fell to Robinson. Robinson later went on to snare Kohli and Rishabh Pant also. In between, Anderson got Ajinkya Rahane to ensure India lose this match by an innings after Lord's high. The five-match series is now stands at 1-1. Brief Scores: India 78 all out and 278 allout in 99.3 overs (Cheteshwar Pujara 91, Ollie Robinson 5/65); England 1st innings: 432 all out in 132.2 overs (Joe Root 121, Mohammed Shami 4/95).
