Polling is underway on 95 seats across 11 states in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections.

Polling is being held on 38 seats in Tamil Nadu, 14 in Karnataka, 10 in Maharashtra, eight in Uttar Pradesh, five each in Assam, Bihar and Odisha, three each in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, two in Jammu and Kashmir and one seat each in Manipur and Puducherry.

Elections are also being held in 35 assembly constituencies in Odisha.

The election was scheduled to be held in one seat in Tripura but the Election Commission has postponed polling till April 23 citing law and order situation.

6:10 pm: An average 57.22 per cent polling was recorded till 5 pm in 10 constituencies of Maharashtra where polling was held in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections on Thursday


4:50 pm: Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency recorded 58.13 per cent polling, while the turnout was low in Srinagar seat with only 12.43 per cent of voters exercising their franchise till 3 pm on Thursday in the second phase of general elections in Jammu and Kashmir


3:20 pm: A 95-year-old man collapsed & later died while waiting for his turn to vote, at a polling booth in Ganjam. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead. (ANI)


3:10 pm: Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh and his family cast their vote for the Rajnandgaon parliamentary constituency.


3:05 pm:  Voting percent in three Lok Sabha constituencies of West Bengal till 1 pm: 

Jalpaiguri: 54.73%

Darjeeling: 47.52%

Raigunj: 52.54%


 

2:48 pm: Voter turnout till 1 PM in Maharashtra is 35.4%.


2:45 pm: EVM vandalized during a clash between TMC and BJP workers in West Bengal's Chopra.


2:42 pm: SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav files nomination from Azamgarh parliamentary constituency.


2:41 pm: Police registered a case against BJP State president P S Sreedharan Pillai on charges of giving a communal speech against Muslims in Attingal.


2:27 pm: Criminal complaint filed in Delhi's Patiala House Court by one Joginder Tuli seeking direction to police for registration of FIR u/s 124A (IPC- Sedition charges) against Congress President Rahul Gandhi for making allegedly derogatory statements against PM Narendra Modi. (ANI)


2:10 pm: 33% polling in Odisha till 1 pm.


1:55 pm: Voting process recorded, posted on Facebook; probe ordered.

Election officials have ordered an inquiry after some voters recorded their voting process at a polling booth here and posted it on Facebook, police said. As per Election Commission guidelines, voters are not allowed to carry their mobile phones within a 100-metre radius of polling stations on the day of voting, an official said. (PTI)

1:15 pm: Karnataka Minister DK Shivakumar casts his vote at a polling booth in Dodda Halahalli, Kanakapura Taluka.


1:00 pm: IED blast took place b/w Koracha&Manpur road, Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh on ITBP Road Opening Party (ROP) at 1100am today. ITBP Constable Man Singh received minor injuries. He is out of danger&performing his duty after the first aid in the same area. Polling in the area underway.


12:55 pm: CPM leader Md Salim’s convoy was attacked in West Bengal’s Islampur. Md Salim is contesting from the Raiganj Lok Sabha seat.

Reports said Salim's convoy was pelted with bricks. Salim alleged that he was also attacked by Trinamool Congress workers who were threatening voters  inside a polling station


12:29 pm: Voter turnout till 11 AM in Jammu & Kashmir's Srinagar and Udhampur parliamentary constituency is 17.8%.


12:20 pm: 18% polling till 11 am in five Lok Sabha seats going to polls today in Odisha. Kandhamal: 16%, Bargarh: 20%, Aska: 20%, Sundargarh: 18%, Bolangir: 15%.


12:15 pm: "Fake voting has happened. Women in burkhas are not being checked for their identity. I heard a man wearing burkha was also caught," says Kanwar Singh Tanwar,BJP MP candidate from Amroha.


12:10 am: Union Minister Maneka Gandhi files her nomination from Sultanpur Lok Sabha constituency.


12:05 am:  Polling official dies of heart attack in Chhattisgarh.

11:49 am: Poonam Sinha, SP-BSP-RLD candidate from the Parliamentary constituency files her nomination.


11:48 am: Voter turnout till 11 AM in Assam is 26.39%, in Chhattisgarh is 26.2%.


11:47 am: Farooq Abdullah & Omar Abdullah cast their votes.


11:30 am: Security personnel lob tear gas shells and lathi charge locals as they block NH-34 in protest after unknown miscreants allegedly prevented them from casting their votes in West Bengal's North Dinajpur.


11:22 am: Voter turnout till 11 AM in Manipur is 32.18%.

10:50 am: Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and Voter-verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) glitches have been reported at a number of polling booths in Odisha, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Maharshtra and Uttar Pradesh.


10:48 am: HD Deve Gowda and his wife cast their votes at a polling station in Hassan's Paduvalahippe.


10:40 am: Election Commission flying squad has seized Rs 11.85 Lakh cash in Sion area of Mumbai City district.


10:30 am: Voter turnout till 10 AM in Bihar is 19.5%.


10:15 am: Polling underway in Srinagar and Udhampur parliamentary constituencies, in Jammu and Kashmir.

The second phase of elections begun in Kashmir amid high security, snapping of internet and low voting. In three districts of Srinagar constituency, Budgam, Ganderbal and Srinagar, 1.6 percent, 1.2 percent and 0.9 percent polling was recorded respectively till 9 a.m.

8:42 am: Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi casts her vote.


8:39 am: Polling in Gujarat will be held in the third of the seven-phase elections on April 23. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.


8:37 am: Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy casts his vote at a polling station.


8.29 am: Voter turnout in Bihar till 8 am is 5.73%.


8:26 am: Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweets: “Dear Citizens of India, Phase 2 of the Lok Sabha polls start today. I am sure all those whose seats are polling today will strengthen our democracy by exercising their franchise. I hope more youngsters head to the polling booths and vote!”


8:25 am: Manipur governor Najma Heptulla casts her vote at a polling station in Imphal.


8:10 am: Kamal Haasan and his daughter Shruti Haasan queue up outside polling station 27.


8:01 am: Congress leader Sushilkumar Shinde casts his vote at a polling station in Solapur.


8:00 am: A Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machine is not working properly at a polling station in Silchar.


7:55 am: Glitches in EVMs in some of the booths delay the polling process in Trichy city in the election to Trichy Lok Sabha constituency.


7:25 am: Actor turned politician Rajinikanth casts his vote at the polling station in Stella Maris College, in Chennai.


7:20 am: Nalini Chidambaram, Karti Chidambaram and his wife Srinidi Rangarajan casts their vote at a polling station in Karaikudi, Sivaganga.


7:15 am: Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman stands in at a polling booth in BES college of Jayanagar under Bangalore South Lok Sabha constituency to cast her vote.


7:05 am: Security personnel cast their vote through postal ballot in Vadodara.


7:02 am: Voting in the second phase of 2019 Lok Sabha polls has begun.


7:00 am: Among the key contestants in the fray are Union ministers Jual Oram, Sadananda Gowda and Pon Radhakrishnan, former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, Congress leaders Verappa Moily and Raj Babbar, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, BJP's Hema Malini and DMK's Dayanidhi Maran, A Raja and Kanimozhi.


6:45 am: West Bengal: EC has deployed 194 companies of central forces in the three constituencies going to polls to cover 80 percent of the 5,390 booths for free and fair polling.


6:41 am: Mobile internet services have been snapped in Srinagar and other parts of the valley, reports ANI.

This has been done as a precautionary measure, as Srinagar and Udhampur parliamentary constituencies go to vote today in the second phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019.
