Death Toll Rises To 5 In UP’s ‘Illegal’ Firecracker Factory Explosion

The death toll in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli “illegal” firecracker factory explosion has reached five with one more injured worker succumbing to his injuries, officials said on Tuesday.

The injured worker succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Meerut, officials said.

Mobin, a resident of Bahraich, succumbed to injuries at a medical college in Meerut on Monday evening.

At least four people were killed while several were injured in an explosion that took place at the factory in Shamli's Kairana town on October 1.

Meanwhile, police said they have registered a case and arrested six people for running an illegal firecracker manufacturing factory. (With PTI inputs)
