The Honda Amaze is finally available with a CVT in its top-spec VX variant. Offered with both petrol and diesel engine options, the Amaze VX CVT is priced at Rs 8.57 lakh and 9.57 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India), respectively. This makes it upto Rs 83,000 more expensive than the VX-MT variant and Rs 41,000 over the V CVT variant. The launch of the VX variant with CVT means that buyers no longer need to skimp on features that were earlier limited to the VX-manual variant.

The VX CVT variant gets features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, steering mounted controls, reverse parking camera with guidelines, additional USB port and one-touch up/down for the driver’s window over the V CVT variant. However, it misses out on cruise control that is offered as standard on the VX MT variant.

Apart from the introduction of the new CVT variant, Honda has also updated the standard safety features of the Amaze to make the sedan compliant with the new safety regulations that are set to come into effect on July 1 this year. While the popular sub-4 metre sedan was already offered with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat anchors as standard earlier, Honda has added a co-passenger seatbelt reminder and a high speed alert system into the mix as well.

Under the bonnet, the Amaze VX CVT continues with the same set of petrol and diesel engines offered in other variants. The 1.2-litre petrol engine makes 90PS of power and 110Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre diesel unit, on the other hand, is good for 80PS and 160Nm of torque. Both these engines are mated to a 7-speed CVT gearbox. Where the petrol Amaze CVT is at par with the Amaze MT in terms of power and torque, the diesel Amaze CVT makes 20PS and 40Nm less than its manual counterpart. The claimed fuel economy figures for the Amaze petrol and diesel CVT stand at 19kmpl and 23.8kmpl, respectively.
