The scheme promises Rs 5, 000 for each farmer, irrespective of his holding, spread over five seasons till 2021-22; livelihood assistance of Rs 12, 500 to each landless family; interest-free crop loans and Rs 2 lakh insurance cover for each farmer.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had kudos to offer to farmers for making India pulse sufficient and an appeal to do the same in the case of edible oil seeds production but nothing concrete to offer to distressed farmers.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that the Congress government in the state has purchased paddy from farmers on minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 2,500 per quintal, due to which paddy procurement in Chhattisgarh has increased.
And now the farmers are clueless about where the money went. Neither the bank officials nor the concerned authorities are willing to give them any clarification, saying they have just followed the order.
