From March 21 to 23, the world’s top athletes will compete at the World Athletics Indoor Championships Nanjing 2025, held at the Nanjing Sports Training Centre. The event promises record-breaking performances and fierce rivalries.
Notable athletes include Olympic champions from Paris 2024: Mondo Duplantis, Grant Holloway, Jakob Ingebrigtsen, Miltiadis Tentoglou, Yaroslava Mahuchikh, and Hamish Kerr. However, India will be absent from the championships despite five athletes qualifying: Tejas Shirse and Madhvendra Shekhawat (men’s 60m hurdles), Jyothi Yarraji (women’s 60m hurdles), Ancy Sojan (women’s long jump), and Aishwarya Mishra (women’s 400m).
While India was initially set to compete in the women’s 4x400m relay, they opted out. Approximately 500 athletes from around 120 countries will compete for medals in 26 events over three days.
Last year, India did not secure any medals at the World Athletics Indoor Championships 2024 in Glasgow, with Jeswin Aldrin and Praveen Chithravel finishing 13th and 11th, respectively. India have never won a medal at the World Athletics Indoor Championships.
