Jhon Duran has joined Fenerbahce on a season-long loan deal, less than six months after swapping Aston Villa for the Saudi Pro League.

Duran left Villa for Al-Nassr in February, with the Riyadh-based club paying an estimated £71m to pair the Colombian with Cristiano Ronaldo in attack.

He scored 12 goals in 18 appearances for Al-Nassr in all competitions, including eight in 13 league outings as they finished third behind Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal.

However, reports suggested last month that the 21-year-old wished to return to European football, and he will spend 2025-26 playing under Jose Mourinho in Istanbul.

"We have reached an agreement with Al Nassr FC and Jhon Duran for the player to join our squad on a one-year loan deal," Fenerbahce said in a statement.

"We wish him a successful season in our yellow and navy colours."

Duran rose to prominence in the first half of the 2024-25 season, while competing with Ollie Watkins for a starting place in Unai Emery's Villa attack.

He scored stunning long-range winners against Everton in the Premier League and Bayern Munich in the Champions League, netting 20 times for Villa overall.

Twelve of those goals came in 2024-25, with eight of them arriving in the Premier League – the first four from the bench as he earned a reputation as a super-sub.

West Ham had two bids – the highest reportedly being £57m – rejected for Duran shortly before he joined Al-Nassr, while Chelsea were also credited with an interest in him.

Duran joins a Fenerbahce team that has endured back-to-back trophyless seasons, finishing a distant second to Galatasaray in the Super Lig last term.
