It was a celebration curtailed instantly, and hilariously. Vijaykumar Vyshak cleaned up Royal Challengers Bengaluru dangerman Jitesh Sharma in the 18th over of the Indian Premier League 2025 final against Punjab Kings on Tuesday (June 3) in Ahmedabad. He shaped to punch the air but held himself back at the last second to evoke amusement among the viewers and on social media.

Vyshak dismissed Jitesh for a 10-ball 24 and knew how important his wicket was in the context of the game. He this began celebrating but then realised the job was not fully done yet, and pulled out to focus on the job ahead. The wicket could well become the turning point of the match, as PBKS restricted RCB to 190 for nine in 20 overs. Vyshak returned economical figures of 1/30 off four overs.

Earlier, PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and put Rajat Patidar's men in to bat.

The IPL 2025 final pits two sides chasing long-awaited glory against each other. For RCB, it’s a fourth appearance in the final and perhaps their best shot yet at shedding the “nearly men” tag. Led by the composed Patidar, they’ve found form when it mattered most, peaking with an emphatic eight-wicket win over PBKS in Qualifier 1.

Punjab, meanwhile, bounced back in style in Qualifier 2, riding on Iyer’s sublime 87 not out to reach their first final since 2014. While RCB are spurred on by the hope of finally delivering a trophy to Kohli, PBKS carry the weight of a legacy yet to be defined. This isn’t just a match — it’s a battle for redemption, belief, and the breaking of old curses.
