India clinched the inaugural T20 Blind Women’s World Cup on Sunday, defeating Nepal by seven wickets in the final at the P. Sara Oval in Colombo.
After restricting Nepal to 114 for 5, India chased down the target comfortably, reaching 117 for 3 in just 12 overs to claim the title.
India dominated so thoroughly that Nepal managed only one boundary throughout their innings.
Phula Saren top-scored for India in the run chase with 44 not out.
India defeated Australia in the first semifinal, while Nepal overcame Pakistan in the second semifinal on Saturday.
Co-hosts Sri Lanka managed just one win in the five preliminary round matches, defeating only the USA.
Pakistan’s Mehreen Ali, a B3 (partially sighted) player, was the standout batter of the six-team tournament, amassing over 600 runs, including a 230 off 78 balls against Sri Lanka and 133 against Australia.
