Ibrahim Zadran was named Afghanistan captain on Monday (August 24) for the upcoming three-match T20I series against India. The upcoming series will marks his first as the team's full-time T20I skipper.
Veteran fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq returns to the national setup after recovering from a stress fracture in his right shoulder. The shoulder injury previously ruled him out of the T20I series against the West Indies and the T20 World Cup 2026.
Experienced all-rounder Gulbadin Naib returns to add depth to the middle order and provide additional bowling options.
Uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Noor Rahman is included as the second wicketkeeper alongside Rahmanullah Gurbaz. His selection follows strong performances in domestic cricket, the Shpageeza Cricket League and at the A-team level.
Rashid Khan leads the spin-bowling group alongside Noor Ahmad, Nangyal Kharoti, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi. The pace attack features Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazal Haq Farooqi, Abdullah Ahmadzai and Azmatullah Omarzai.
The series will be played at Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi from September 13 to 17, 2026. The fixtures will serve as Afghanistan's "home series".
