Imran Khan, the former prime minister of Pakistan, made headlines today as he appeared before an anti-terrorism court in Lahore to secure an extension to his pre-arrest bail. Khan, who cited 'serious threats' to his life, faces three cases, including an attack on a top military commander's residence. Amid high security, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party chairman also sought an extension to his bail in the murder case of PTI worker Zille Shah, which was granted until June 6 by the Lahore High Court.

During the proceedings at the anti-terrorism court, Judge Ijaz Ahmad Buttar questioned Khan's absence from the investigation related to the attack on Lahore Corps Commander House, known as Jinnah House. Khan explained that he had requested to join the probe via video link due to security concerns, but his request was denied. The judge directed him to participate in the investigation and extended his bail until June 13.

In recent events, Pakistan experienced widespread violence on May 9, following Khan's arrest in a corruption case. More than 20 military installations and government buildings, including the military headquarters in Rawalpindi, were damaged during the unrest, now referred to as the 'Black Day' in Pakistan's history. The violence also resulted in over 10 deaths and the burning of over 100 vehicles belonging to the police and other security agencies.

Khan, however, claimed that the violence led to the death of over 25 PTI workers and the arrest of over 10,000 PTI supporters nationwide, with approximately 4,000 arrests made in Punjab alone.
