RCB Vs GT, IPL 2026: Kohli's 81, Paddikal's 55 Power Royal Challengers Bengaluru To Victory

RCB chased down 206 to secure a dominant 5-wicket win, powered by explosive half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal. Despite Sai Sudharsan making history with a brilliant century, the Titans' bowling attack had no answer for Bengaluru's relentless power-hitting.

  • RCB chased down 2026 with five wickets and seven balls to spare

  • Virat Kohli was awarded the player of the match award

In a high-scoring encounter at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pulled off a commanding 9-wicket victory over the Gujarat Titans (GT), chasing down a formidable target of 206 with 7 balls to spare. The match was a spectacle of records, headlined by a historic milestone for Sai Sudharsan and a vintage batting masterclass from Virat Kohli.

After being put into bat, the Gujarat Titans posted a robust 205/3. The star of the show was Sai Sudharsan, who played a sublime knock of 100 off 58 balls. During this innings, Sudharsan became the fastest player to reach 2,000 IPL runs, achieving the feat in just 47 innings and eclipsing Chris Gayle’s long-standing record.

Supported by Shubman Gill (32) and a late unbeaten cameo from Jason Holder (23), Sudharsan’s 11 boundaries and 5 sixes looked to have set a winning total on a flat Bengaluru deck.

RCB’s response was nothing short of a blitzkrieg. Despite the early loss of Jacob Bethell (14), who stood in for the injured Phil Salt, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal decimated the Titans' bowling attack. Kohli, controlled the chase with a flawless 81 off 44 balls, reaching his half-century in 30 deliveries and becoming the first player to hit 800 IPL fours.

At the other end, Padikkal was the aggressor, smashing 55 off 27 balls at a strike rate of 203. His six sixes effectively neutralized GT’s strike bowlers, Kagiso Rabada and Rashid Khan. The pair's century stand ensured the result was never in doubt, as RCB cruised to 206/5 in just 18.5 overs.

This dominant win propels RCB to 3rd place on the points table with 10 points, significantly boosting their Net Run Rate. Meanwhile, the Titans remain stuck in the bottom half of the table, facing an uphill battle for playoff qualification as the tournament enters its final weeks.
