Netanyahu called Smit Machchhar a “hero for Israel, India, and the entire world” after the pilot survived an alleged cockpit attack on a Flydubai flight bound for Tel Aviv.
Machchhar told Netanyahu that the co-pilot had been praying before suddenly striking him, initially making him think the aircraft itself had suffered catastrophic damage.
The injured pilot was later moved from Saudi Arabia to Abu Dhabi for treatment, while the co-pilot has been identified by the Wall Street Journal as an Omani national.
