Amid the second wave of the pandemic gripping the country, India recorded 1,03,558 fresh covid-19 cases on Monday, the highest single-day spike since the pandemic began. The new cases have pushed the country’s coronavirus caseload to 1.25 crore and the virus has neither spared the common man nor many of the country’s celebrities.

Here's a list of popular personalities who recently tested positive for the infection.

1. Sachin Tendulkar

Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar tested positive for Covid-19. Confirming the news on Twitter on March 27, the cricketer wrote,“ I have been testing myself and taking all the recommended precautions to ensure Covid is kept at bay. However, I've tested positive today following mild symptoms. All others at home have tested negative.”

In another update, Tendulkar was hospitalised on Friday as he shared the development on Twitter.

2. Farooq Abdullah

Former Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday. His son and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah confirmed the news on Twitter. 

3. Alia Bhatt

Bollywood actor Alia Batt also tested positive for coronavirus on Friday. Taking to Instagram on Friday, Bhatt posted a note saying that she is currently following all the safety protocols listed by her doctors.

4. Harmanpreet Kaur

The Indian women's T20 team captain Harmanpreet Kaur tested positive for Covid-19 after experiencing mild symptoms. The sports personality is isolating herself at home.

5. Bappi Lahiri

Music composer-singer Bappi Lahiri has been admitted to the hospital after he was detected with mild Covid symptoms, He was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital as a precautionary measure on Wednesday night. 

6. Irfan Pathan

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan also tested positive for the infection. In a Tweet, the 36-year-old wrote: "I have tested positive for COVID-19 with no symptoms and have isolated myself and quarantined at home."

7. Aamir Khan

Bollywood celebrity Aamir Khan also contracted the virus last month. The 56-year-old actor’s spokesperson confirmed the news on March 24 and said that he was at home in self-quarantine, following all the protocols, and doing fine.

8. Fatima Sana Shaikh

Fatima Sana Shaikh also tested positive for Covid-19 in the second national wave. The 'Dangal' star shared the health update with her fans on Instagram.

9. Robert Vadra

Robert Vadra, Businessperson and husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have also contracted the infection.  Gandhi on Friday said that she has decided to self-isolate after her husband tested positive for Covid-19. She also announced the cancellation of her poll campaign in Assam. 

10. Akshay Kumar

The latest addition to the list is Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar. Kumar on Saturday announced that he has tested positive for coronavirus.

 In an Instagram message, Kumar said that he is following all Covid-19 protocols and also urged people who recently came in contact with him to get themselves tested.

11. Devdutt Padikkal 

Meanwhile, on the IPL front, Royal Challengers Bangalore are the latest team to have a player turn Covid positive. As per reports, RCB's opener Devdutt Padikkal tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday and is under isolation.

This news comes a day after Delhi Capitals and India all-rounder Axar Patel tested positive for Covid-19. Patel is also all set to miss his team's IPL-opener on April 10 due to quarantine protocols.

Recently, Ranbir Kapoor, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Manoj Bajpayee, Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Tara Sutaria had also tested positive for Covid-19.

12. Axar Patel

Delhi Capitals and India all-rounder Axar Patel also tested positive for Covid-19 and is set to miss the team's IPL-opener on April 10 due to quarantine protocols.

Patel has been kept in isolation, the Delhi Capitals said on Saturday.

As per IPL protocol, Patel will have to serve a mandatory 10-day quarantine period and has to return two negative RT-PCR results on the final two days to return to action. 

 13. Vicky Kaushal 

Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal fell prey to the virus on Monday. Kaushal shared his diagnosis in a statement posted on his Instagram account.

"Inspite of all care and precautions, unfortunately, I have tested positive for COVID-19. Following all essential protocols, I am under home quarantine, taking medication as prescribed by my doctor," the 32-year-old actor wrote.

Kaushal urged those who came in contact with him to also get themselves tested.

14.  Bhumi Pednekar 

On Monday, actor Bhumi Pednekar also announced that she had contracted the virus.

Kaushal and Pednekar were reportedly shooting for director Shashank Khaitan's upcoming Dharma Productions movie "Mr Lele" in the city.

In an Instagram post, Pednekar said she is currently under isolation and is following necessary protocols listed by the doctors.

"I have tested positive for COVID-19. As of today, I have mild symptoms, but am feeling ok and have isolated myself. I am following the protocol given by my doctor and health professionals. If you have been in contact with me, request you to please get tested immediately," she wrote.

Pednekar also urged her fans to be cautious and follow covid-19 protocols.
