Buyers waiting for the Mahindra XUV300 automatic are in luck. Mahindra dealerships across the country have started accepting unofficial pre-launch bookings for a token amount of Rs 20,000 for the upcoming XUV300 diesel-AMT. If you fancy one, you are likely to have only two variant options - W8 and W8(O) - as it is unlikely to be offered in lower variants.

The SUV is expected to launch this week and dealership dispatches across India are already underway. Some dealers have confirmed that the SUV will be on display and available for test drives in the next couple of days. If you book one now, expect to get your SUV delivered within six to eight weeks. Mahindra is expected to offer only three colours with the XUV300 AMT - Red Rage, Aquamarine and Pearl White.

We have already driven the Mahindra XUV300 AMT and found it to be quite capable. It is powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine which churns out 117PS and 300Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed AMT. Those looking for a petrol-AMT version of the XUV300 could get it with a more powerful version, but only later this year.

In terms of prices, the Mahindra XUV300 AMT will be the most expensive diesel AMT in its segment as it’s expected to command a premium of around Rs 50,000 to 60,000 over the corresponding manual variant. Currently, the XUV300 diesel range is priced between Rs 8.49 lakh to Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Here’s how much you could shell out for the W8 and W8(O) variants of the SUV:
