Gold is the fictional re-telling of India’s iconic win at the 1948 London Olympics.
Directed by Reema Kagti, ‘Gold’ chronicles the life of India’s first Olympic gold medal after gaining independence. The film traces the golden era of Indian hockey through the journey of Tapan Das played by Akshay Kumar, a young assistant manager who dreamt of playing for an independent nation.
The film also stars Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Sunny Kaushal, Vineet Kumar Singh and Mouni Roy.
Ever since his 2013 film Special 26, the Khiladi of Bollywood has been giving us mostly content-driven films. Be it is a patriotic avatar in films like Holiday (2014), Baby (2015), Airlift (2016), Rustom (2016) or his socially relevant films like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017) and Pad Man (2018), Akshay has catered to the multiplex audience and catered well.
Gold has already become one of the top 10 biggest box-office juggernauts of 2018 with both critics and fans giving it an overwhelmingly positive review.
