BCCI Bans Certain Brand Categories After Releasing Tender For National Team Sponsor Rights

In a statement released on bcci.tv, the board invited bids from reputed entities to acquire the sponsor rights for the national team. The terms and conditions will be made available on receipt of payment of a non-refundable fee of Rs 5,00,000 + 90,000 GST.

Any party that was interested could purchase the Invitation to Tender (ITT). However, as per the criteria set beforehand only certain companies were made eligible to bid.

The prohibited brand categories included athleisure and sportswear manufacturer, alcohol products, betting, cryptocurrency, real money gaming (except fantasy sports), tobacco, and brands that are likely to offend public morals such as, including but not limited to, pornography.

BYJUs, which had cut down on its branding, had a USD 35 million deal for the most visible space on the Indian men's team jersey — the front. The Ed-Tech major backed out from further sponsoring the Indian team last financial year.
