The Tamil Nadu government has released Rs 1.3 crore to help government school students for Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
The CLAT is the most widely used entrance exam used by colleges and universities for admission to undergraduate law programmes.
The assistance is being released for aspiring lawyers of government schools under the state's Naan Mudhalvan scheme.
The Tamil Nadu directorate of model schools will release funds to the chief educational officers in all the districts, who will then further disburse the funds to the students. Applications can be filed by October 25 (Wednesday). A total of 3,377 schools are covered under the initiative.

"There is a lack of awareness about such national institutions among government school students. This is part of the effort by the government to increase the number of students aspiring to join them. This initiative will help them," said an official to The New Indian Express (TNIE).
The paper further reported that the alumni network would also be tapped into to assist the students.
The report also said that there around 3,000 applicants. Of them, 2,343 are from the general category, 446 are with disabilities, and 588 belong to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (SC/STs) categories.
Previous years' question papers of CLAT have also been uploaded on Naan Mudhalvan's website to help the students, reported TNIE.
