Kulgam Encounter: Police Says 2 Terrorists Were Killed, Bodies Retrieved; Search Operation Underway

The Kashmir Zone Police on X shared the information that the cordon and search operation after the clash on Wednesday is still in progress.

Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed in an encounter that broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Wednesday. 

Kashmir Zone Police informed on X that the bodies of the two terrorists killed have been retrieved by the authorities. They wrote, "#KulgamEncounterUpdate: 02 #terrorists killed. Bodies of the killed terrorists being retrieved from the site of #encounter."

Further, they also said that the "Cordon & search #operation is still in progress. Further details shall follow."

Additional Director General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said the slain terrorists have been identified as Basit Amin Bhat of Frisal, and Saqib Ahmad Lone of Hawoora, Kulgam.

They were linked with proscribed terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen, he said.

Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including two AK rifles were recovered from the encounter site, the ADGP said.

The encounter started in the Kujjar area of the south Kashmir district, the police said.
