Maharashtra: Asaduddin Owaisi's Party Leader Shot By 2 Unidentified Gunmen

Abdul Malik, the former mayor of Malegaon and a leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party, was attacked outside a shop on the Old Agra road in the early hours of the morning.

A prominent leader of Asaduddin Owaisi's party was shot and injured by two unidentified persons in Maharashtra's Nashik district on Monday.

Abdul Malik, the former mayor of Malegaon and a leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party, was attacked outside a shop on the Old Agra road in the early hours of the morning.

According to police, two motorbike-borne persons opened fire at Malik at around 1.20 am, injuring him in the chest and leg. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where his condition was reported  to be stable.

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi condemned the attack, calling it a "conspiracy" and urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and the police to take immediate action 

He wrote on X: “AIMIM Malegaon president & former mayor Abdul Malik was shot thrice last night. He has been taken to Nashik for treatment. I spoke to his brother Dr. Khalid on phone. We stand firmly with Abdul Malik’s family. This is a conspiracy and the murderers should be arrested as soon as possible.”
