Labor Day has arrived, which means summer is coming to an end and schools are opening. The first Monday of September also honors the American labor movement and the accomplishments employees have made to the American economy. Many Americans will be vacationing or hosting their final summer barbeques because it is a bank holiday. If you need to run shopping on Monday, September 4, here are the companies and shops that will be open and closed.
Retailers
Those who need to go grocery shopping will be in luck. Walmart (WMT), Target (CBDY), and Kroger (KR) will continue to operate normally.
Most Walgreens and CVS (CVS) locations will also be open during regular business hours. CVS (CVS) advised customers to contact their local stores since some pharmacy hours may be decreased and other locations may be closed. Notably, the wholesale retailer Costco (COST) will close its doors.
Postal Service
The United States Postal Service will be closed on Monday, so don't expect to send mail. Except for Express Critical, all UPS services will be suspended. Only FedEx Custom Critical, its premium service for exceptional packages, will be available, and FedEx Office hours will be altered.
Banks
Because Labor Day is one of eleven federal financial holidays, banks will be closed. ATMs and internet banking services will, nevertheless, be available.
Banks will be closed on Labor Day in 2023:
Bank of America
Capital One Bank
Chase
PNC Bank
Santander Bank
TD Bank
Wells Fargo
Stock Market
The stock exchange in the United States will also be closed. The New York Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ will be closed.
Government Offices
Federal offices, government facilities, and post offices will all be closed on Monday, including the DMV and local libraries. State and local courts will also be closed.
