Actor Naseeruddin Shah's first look as visionary and Bharat Ratna recipient, JRD Tata was unveiled on the latter's 121st birth anniversary. Shah will play the legendary industrialist in the Amazon MX Player & Almighty Motion Picture's upcoming series Made in India – A Titan Story.
Amazon MX Player shared the first-look pics of Shah on Instagram and wrote, "remembering the legend JRD Tata jo sach mein the “ahead of his time”, on his 121st birth anniversary!"
The synopsis of the series reads: "Based on Vinay Kamath’s TITAN, Inside India’s Most Successful Consumer Brand, the series chronicles the journey of TITAN from how it was conceptualized to becoming an enduring homegrown brand which stands for pride and success for every Indian."
"The series will show JRD Tata’s philosophy, to its initial struggles to ultimately finding a recipe for entrepreneurial success. "The watershed moments in Titan’s history are captured till they create the world’s slimmest watch and silence their detractors under Desai’s tutelage."
Made in India - The Titan Story has been produced by Prabhleen Sandhu and directed by Robby Grewal, with screenplay by Karan Vyas. Alongside Shah, the series also stars Jim Sarbh as Xerxes Desai, the pioneering founder of Titan Watch Company, Namita Dubey, Vaibhav Tatwawaadi, Kaveri Seth, Lakshvir Saran, and Paresh Ganatra.
It is slated to release early next year.
Grewal, in a statement, shared that bringing JRD Tata’s legacy to life in the series has been an inspiring journey. "His vision went far beyond building companies; he built institutions, ideas, and a sense of purpose for an entire nation," he said, adding that Naseeruddin Shah has brought a "rare authenticity and depth to the narrative" by playing the icon.
"We truly believe this series will remind audiences why these stories of innovation and nation-building matter more than ever," he said further.
