Dandiya Festival Organized by Delhi Tourism at Yamuna Sports Complex and Rugby Sports Ground Dandiya/Garba celebrations are in full swing across India on the auspicious occasion of Navratri. The Dandiya festival is one of the most anticipated festivals, eagerly awaited by the younger generation. People dress up in their best traditional Gujarati attire to enjoy this dance form, holding dandiyas and swaying to the rhythm of music.
In this series, Delhi Tourism, in collaboration with the Delhi Government, organized a two-day Dandiya Festival at the Rugby Sports Ground, Delhi University, North Campus, and the Yamuna Sports Complex, Football Ground, where a large number of visitors participated and enjoyed the festivities.
Today, the Dandiya Festival was held at the Yamuna Sports Complex, Football Ground. Chief Guests were Honorable Mrs. Rekha Gupta, Chief Minister, Government of Delhi, and Honorable Mr. Kapil Mishra, Tourism Minister, Government of Delhi. Also present on the occasion were Mrs. Niharika Rai, Managing Director, Delhi Tourism; Mr. D. Karthikeyan, General Manager, Delhi Tourism; and several other dignitaries.
The main objective of the festival was to promote the rich tradition of traditional Indian folk dance, music, and celebration. This festival not only provided Delhiites with an opportunity for entertainment and cultural experiences, but also served as an important step towards establishing Delhi as a vibrant cultural capital.
The Dandiya Festival offered a wide range of food and drinks, including music, fun, and dance. Special performances by Bollywood artists were also enjoyed. This festival truly leaves unforgettable memories that visitors thoroughly enjoy.
Dandiya is enjoyed not only by Delhiites but also by foreign tourists. The festival also aimed to promote cultural tourism.
