Greetings and welcome, everyone! We are building up to the third day of Ranji Trophy Elite's round-two fixtures. Stay with us for the Day 2 recap, highlights and live updates from the upcoming action.
Day 3 begins at 9:30am IST at most venues, while it has already begun at 9am in Kolkata where Bengal are hosting Gujarat at the Eden Gardens. Only three Ranji Trophy 2025-26, round two matches are available for live streaming on the JioHotstar app and website in India.
The games that are being live-streamed:
Bengal vs Gujarat
Saurashtra vs Madhya Pradesh
Mumbai vs Chhattisgarh
A fresh chapter was written in the Ranji Trophy as Services defeated Assam yesterday in a match that lasted just 90 overs, the shortest completed game in the tournament’s 91-year history. The contest at the Tinsukia District Sports Association Ground ended within four sessions, producing a result after only 540 balls.
This incredible feat surpassed the previous record of 547 balls bowled in a Delhi vs Railways match during the 1961–62 season.
Gujarat have lost their eighth wicket against Bengal off the third ball of the morning. Chintan Gaja falls for 4 to out-of-favour India left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed, and that completes a five-wicket haul for Shahbaz. The all-rounder has figures of 5/23 in 14 overs currently.
India discard and much talked about top-order batter Prithvi Shaw is batting on 84 for Maharashtra against Chandigarh in their Elite Group B match. The right-hander had hit 75 in the second innings against Kerala in Maharashtra's opener and is eyeing a century today.
Jammu and Kashmir have thrashed Rajasthan by an innings and 41 runs in Srinagar, with Auqib Nabi returning magical figures of 7/24. This is J&K's first win of the season, having lost to Mumbai in their opener.
Prithvi Shaw has sped to his hundred, and is going strong at an unbeaten 111 off just 83 balls. His knock includes 18 fours, and has taken Maharashtra to an imposing 175 for 1 in the second innings against Chandigarh.
Mohammed Shami picks up his third wicket of the innings in the form of No. 11 Priyajitsing Jadeja as Bengal dismiss Gujarat for a paltry 167-run total. Bengal thus attain a crucial 112-run first-innings lead and have commenced their second essay.
Only 10 runs added in the morning as Mumbai have been bowled out for 416 runs in their first innings against Chhattisgarh. Akash Anand's (61) resistance ends and Tushar Deshpande fall for 9. In reply, the visitors are batting at 14 for no loss after 4 overs.
At lunch, Delhi have restricted Himachal Pradesh to 276 for eight in response to their 430-run total. HP had started the day at 165 for three, and have lost five wickets for 111 runs in the morning session. Akash Vashisht (49 not out) is battling on with Vaibhav Arora (5 not out) giving him company.
Prithvi Shaw has converted his hundred into a daddy hundred, and he is still at the crease at 186 not out off just 131 deliveries. The Maharashtra opener is certainly making a statement, and has been joined by another India international in the form of Ruturaj Gaikwad. The visitors are batting at a healthy 304 for two with a towering lead of 407 runs.
There it is! Prithvi Shaw has got to his double hundred and is still not done. He has hit five sixes and 28 fours in his unbeaten 214, which has come off just 147 balls. He got to the double ton in 141 deliveries and has struck two sixes since. Maharashtra's lead swells to 439 runs.
The Himachal Pradesh innings folds for 297 runs in 91.4 overs, giving Delhi a sizeable 133-run first-innings lead at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Navdeep Saini ends up with three wickets (3/52), while Money Grewal snares two scalps (2/47).
At Rajkot, rain has stopped play after Madhya Pradesh produced a superb rear-guard effort to claim the first-innings lead against Saurashtra. Batting at 203 for 7 at one stage in response to the hosts' 260-run first-innings total, a deficit seemed certain for MP.
But opener Yash Dubey (148 not out) joined forces with all-rounder Saransh Jain (50 not out) to take them to 288 for seven before the downpour. The visitors now lead by 28 runs and still have three wickets in hand. They had completed a similar rescue act against Karnataka in the first round.
As for Saurashtra, skipper Jaydev Unadkat has claimed four of the seven wickets to fall.
At the Eden Gardens, Bengal have lost four wickets inside the first 32 overs of their second essay against Gujarat. Anustup Majumdar (18 not out) is at the crease and Sumanta Gupta (0 not out) has just joined him. The hosts, however, already have a lead of 217 and chasing anything in excess of 250 won't be easy for Manan Hingrajia's side.
In not so good news from Indian cricket, India's one-day international vice-captain Shreyas Iyer has been admitted to a hospital in Sydney owing to internal bleeding that resulted from a rib cage injury. He is said to currently be in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The injury was sustained during the third India vs Australia ODI on Saturday (October 25, 2025). Iyer had taken a brilliant catch while running backwards from backward point to dismiss Australian wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey.
At tea on Day 3, Vidarbha are sitting pretty at 172 for one against Jharkhand in Nagpur. Aman Mokhade has hit an unbeaten hundred (107 not out) and Dhruv Shorey is not out on 31 at the other end. The hosts are replying to a first-innings total of 332 by Ishan Kishan's side.
Mumbai are piling more pressure on Chhattisgarh towards the fag end of Day 3. They have reduced the visitors to 175 for six before rain stops play at the BKC Ground. Chhattisgarh still trail by 241 runs.
Day 3 draws to a close before the scheduled 90 overs can be bowled in Delhi, due to bad light at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The home team has raced away to 196 for four in 32 overs, taking its lead to a handsome 329 runs. Ayush Badoni's side would no doubt press for an outright victory tomorrow.
