Kolkata Knight Riders have won the toss and elected to bowl first against Mumbai Indians.
Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma are starting the innings for Mumbai, while Knight Riders started the proceedings with left-arm spinner, Anukul Roy, who bowls a good over, giving away just six runs from the over.
MI 6/0 (1)
Cameron Green rattles Mumbai Indians with two wickets in a single over. First he gets Rickelton to play a loose shot and sky one into the hands of Manish Pandey, following it by getting Naman Dhir caught behind for a duck. However, the biggest blow for MI came in the next over, when Rohit Sharma mistimed a shot of Saurabh Dubey's bowling leaving MI three down.
MI 24/3 (4)
Suryakumar Yadav was looked in good touch and played some beautiful shots but Saurabh Dubey got the better of him with a delivery angling away that took Sky's edge and castled onto his stumps. MI is in deep trouble as they lose their fourth wicket within the powerplay.
MI 46/4 (6)
Just as it was looking that we are heading towards a full game, the rain gates have opened suddenly and now its pouring heavily at the Eden Gardens. It looks quite strong and the covers have been called on.
MI 57/4 (8)
If KKR's match today gets rained off, then the situation gets tricky for them, as then they can go to a maximum of 14 points. In this case, they'll want both RR and PBKS to lose their remaining matches and then KKR will need to win their last league match with a significant margin to get past RR's NRR, who are already at 14 points.
Some good news from the stadium as the rain has stopped and the covers are coming off. The good thing about Eden Gardens is that the entire ground is covered, so it's seems that it won't take much time before the match resumes.
The Super Soopers and the groundmen have again done a stupendous job as despite heavy rain, they have turned the field good enough for the play to start in such a short time. The play will begin at 9:15 pm IST.
Varun Chakravarthy delivers a quite and quick first over after the break, giving away just four runs from it. Both Hardik Pandya (8*) and Tilak Varma (10*) have it on them to take Mumbai on from this precarious position to a competitive total on this sticky Kolkata pitch.
MI 61/4 (9)
A terrible mix-up between Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Varun Chakravarthy resulted in a life-line for dangerous Tilak Varma, who skied a fuller ball from Chakravarthy. It could be a huge moment in the context of the match as Tilak is a brilliant T20 batter, who can shift gear anytime, which he displayed in the next over by smashing a six over deep mid-wicket to break the shackles for MI.
MI 74/4 (12)
Dropping Tilak Varma didn't prove costly for KKR as he fell shortly after playing a snail-paced knock of 20 off 32 balls. Kartik Tyagi was the bowler, who got the priced wicket for KKR. Will Jacks joins Hardik Pandya in the middle. Both batters can be extremely dangerous in the slog overs but it's a wicket that doesn't allow you to hit it out of the park from the get-go.
KKR 94/5 (15)
Will Jacks was timing the ball beautifully on this low and slow pitch but a terrible mix-up with Corbin Bosch at the brink of slog overs led to his downfall. Deepak Chahar joins Bosch in the middle.
MI 115/7 (18)
Corbin Bosch took Kartik Tyagi for two sixes and a boundary to take 19 runs from the last over and took his team near 150. Bosch finished at 32 not out off just 18 balls and was the only shinning light in MI's innings. Though it's not a high total but it all depends on how KKR approach it as the pitch has a lot for the bowlers.
MI 147/8 (20)
Finn Allen begins KKR's chase on a positive note with two back-to-back fours to Deepak Chahar but the bowler made an excellent comeback by rattling Allen's stumps on the last ball of the first over. Meanwhile, wicket-keeper batter, Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been replaced by Ramandeep Singh as a concussion substitute.
KKR have got off to a shaky start after losing the wicket of dangerous Finn Allen as MI bowling pair of Deepak Chahar and Jasprit Bumrah has been quite disciplined with their line and length. Ajinkya Rahane and Manish Pandey have a critical role in taking KKR closer to the chase.
KKR 17/1 (3)
Just as it was looking that the 2nd wicket partnership is slowly taking the match away from Mumbai, Corbin Bosch takes the crucial wicket of Ajinkya Rahane by getting him caught behind the wickets for 21. Cameron Green joins Manish Pandey in the middle.
KKR 51/2 (6)
Hardik Pandya brings himself into the attack and he straight away makes a difference by creating an opportunity as he makes Rovman Powell mistime a shot but the Deepak Chahar and Robin Minz make a mess at the deep square leg boundary and Powell gets a life.
KKR 84/3 (10)
Rovman Powell (32*) and Manish Pandey (44*) have forged an impressive 61-run stand between each other, which has turned the game completely in KKR's favor. Both players have taken on the MI bowlers well and from here it's there match to lose.
KKR 115/3 (14)
After a strong 64-run partnership between Manish Pandey and Rovman Powell, finally Mumbai Indians get a breakthrough. Jasprit Bumrah strikes in the last ball of his third over. He was brought to take a wicket and he delivers. Gets it to pitch in the outside off line and then jag back a long way to clatter the stumps of Pandey. Pandey departs after a knock needed according to the situation. 30 runs needed off 30 balls and KKR will not want a slip up here.
KKR 118/4 (15)
Rovman Powell, who was looking dangerous after hitting a six off Allah Ghazanfar, founds himself on the way to the dug out after Corbin Bosch catches a stunner. Powell went to the backfoot to cut Ghazanfar over point but Bosch timed his leap perfectly to get his hands to the ball mid-air but then held on to it as he came down on the ground. KKR are still ahead, and they have got Tejasvi Dahiya in as a concussion sub of Angkrish Raghuvanshi. Jasprit Bumrah finished his spell with Rinku Singh getting a boundary off him to ease the pressure further.
KKR 136/5 (17)
KKR get to the victory in the second last over and they win with 6 balls to spare. There was drama in the last few balls of the 19th over of Will Jacks. Anukul Roy lofted Jacks over the covers, Naman Dhir came running but couldn't grab. Rinku then smashed the ball down the ground to finish things off. It was a tricky pitch and KKR get to home, keeping their hopes alive. They need help from MI when they take on RR and will have to look at PBKS' result as well, apart from winning their last game against DC. Yet, they deserve praise for their performance in the second half of IPL 2026. This is their 6th win in their last 7 games. Manish Pandey and Rovman Powell's partnership did the job for them in this match after bowlers shined earlier.
