The Multan Sultans suffered a 24-run defeat against league leaders Peshawar Zalmi in their last completed match on April 13, 2026. Chasing a target of 197, the Sultans were restricted to 172/8 despite starts from Shan Masood (35), Josh Philippe (32), and Steve Smith (31), as Zalmi’s Sufiyan Muqeem derailed the chase with a three-wicket haul.

The Sultans middle order collapsed in the death overs, losing key wickets just as they seemed to be closing in on the target.

Moeen Ali has taken over the captaincy of Karachi Kings due to a persistent back injury that has sidelined the original captain, David Warner. While Warner led the side during the early stages of the tournament, the injury forced him to miss multiple fixtures, including the critical clashes against Hyderabad Kingsmen and Islamabad United.

During the toss for the match against Islamabad on April 16, Moeen officially confirmed that Warner required more time for recovery.

Muzarabani was initially signed by Islamabad United as a replacement for Shamar Joseph. However, he pulled out of the PSL deal to sign with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman.

On April 14, 2026, the PCB handed Muzarabani a two-year ban from the PSL. The board stated that he "unequivocally accepted" the essential terms of the contract before disregarding them for a "conflicting arrangement."

As of today, April 19, Muzarabani’s representatives have broken their silence, calling the two-year suspension "excessive." They argue that no formal contract had been signed and that discussions were only at an "agreement-in-principle" stage.
