Hasan Ali goes short again and Awais Zafar rocks back to pull it firmly towards deep mid-wicket, just a single on the board, but there’s drama brewing straight away.
The umpire’s arm is out, Hasan Ali has overstepped this time! It’s a no-ball, and that means a Free Hit is coming up. Fielders reset quickly, but the batting side suddenly has a golden chance to cash in.
Hasan Ali strikes the pad of Josh Philippe and the Kings go up in a loud lbw appeal. The ball seams back in from a fuller length, Philippe misses the flick and gets hit on the back leg.
They take it upstairs, hoping for a breakthrough, but UltraEdge shows nothing and ball-tracking confirms it was going down leg. Just a leg bye on the board, and the Kings burn a review in the process.
Wickets falling early and this one has a big name attached to it! Steven Smith is gone for a duck, and Khushdil Shah has struck again with the new ball.
He drifts it well outside off, tempting Smith into a flashy drive down the ground. Smith steps out, looking to take control early, but he’s not quite to the pitch of it. The shot never really gets going, just a faint toe-end that spoons it towards long-on.
And Hasan Ali makes no mistake. He moves across sharply to his left, settles under it cleanly, and holds on despite the tumble that follows. Safe hands, calm finish.
A dream start for the Kings, early breakthrough, big scalp, and the pressure already mounting on the batting side. Smith walks back for 0 off 3, and the mood has shifted instantly.
Karachi Kings have won the toss and have opted to field.
Karachi Kings (Playing XI): Saad Baig(w), Jason Roy, Reeza Hendricks, Salman Agha, Moeen Ali(c), Khushdil Shah, Abbas Afridi, Shahid Aziz, Hasan Ali, Adam Zampa, Mir Hamza
Multan Sultans (Playing XI): Awais Zafar, Steven Smith, Josh Philippe(w), Shan Masood, Ashton Turner(c), Arafat Minhas, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Imran Randhawa, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Peter Siddle, Momin Qamar
The Multan Sultans suffered a 24-run defeat against league leaders Peshawar Zalmi in their last completed match on April 13, 2026. Chasing a target of 197, the Sultans were restricted to 172/8 despite starts from Shan Masood (35), Josh Philippe (32), and Steve Smith (31), as Zalmi’s Sufiyan Muqeem derailed the chase with a three-wicket haul.
The Sultans middle order collapsed in the death overs, losing key wickets just as they seemed to be closing in on the target.
Moeen Ali has taken over the captaincy of Karachi Kings due to a persistent back injury that has sidelined the original captain, David Warner. While Warner led the side during the early stages of the tournament, the injury forced him to miss multiple fixtures, including the critical clashes against Hyderabad Kingsmen and Islamabad United.
During the toss for the match against Islamabad on April 16, Moeen officially confirmed that Warner required more time for recovery.
Muzarabani was initially signed by Islamabad United as a replacement for Shamar Joseph. However, he pulled out of the PSL deal to sign with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman.
On April 14, 2026, the PCB handed Muzarabani a two-year ban from the PSL. The board stated that he "unequivocally accepted" the essential terms of the contract before disregarding them for a "conflicting arrangement."
As of today, April 19, Muzarabani’s representatives have broken their silence, calling the two-year suspension "excessive." They argue that no formal contract had been signed and that discussions were only at an "agreement-in-principle" stage.
