IND Vs PAK LIVE Score, Asian Games 2026 Final: Tilak Varma's Fifty Provides Impactful Finish | IND - 211/6 (20)

India set a challenging target on a surface offering generous turn and bounce, overcoming a middle-overs slowdown through Tilak Varma’s late onslaught to push past the 200-run mark after a blistering start. Pakistan's cause wasn't helped by a sloppy fielding display that featured costly dropped catches and missed run-out opportunities. With a disciplined Indian bowling attack waiting in the wings on a pitch tailor-made for spin, Pakistan face a steep mountain to climb in the chase as the second innings prepares to get underway.

Shivam Dube's explosive cameo came to an end for 27 off 15 balls when he fell to Ahmed Daniyal, caught by Maaz Sadaqat in the deep. Banged in short on middle, Dube went for a powerful pull shot, but failed to clear the boundary, allowing Maaz to take a sharp catch just inches inside the ropes at deep square leg.

Shreyas Iyer's laborious stay at the crease came to an end for 21 off 24 balls, falling to Abrar Ahmed after being caught by Sahibzada Farhan at covers. Struggling to find rhythm on a sluggish pitch, Iyer backed away to play an inside-out shot against a short delivery outside leg stump, but failing to generate any elevation, he spliced it straight to the fielder to hand Pakistan quick back-to-back wickets.

Ishan Kishan's knock came to an end for 20 off 18 balls—featuring three boundaries—when he was clean bowled by Arafat Minhas. Hanging back for a pull against a slightly shorter delivery that turned in sharply, Kishan was undone by the lack of pace and drift, leaving a gap as the ball snuck through the gate to crash into the stumps.

India’s innings has been a high-octane rollercoaster, surging to 81/2 by the end of the powerplay—marking India’s highest-ever powerplay score against Pakistan in T20Is, eclipsing the 69/0 from the 2025 Asia Cup Super Fours.

After early blows that removed Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma put on a masterclass of clean hitting. Racing to his fifty off just 20 balls—highlighted by a flurry of monstrous sixes—Abhishek rode his luck through a sloppy period in the field that saw Pakistan drop multiple chances.

Just as the opener looked entirely unstoppable, Arafat Minhas struck a crucial blow in the 8th over. Anticipating a pre-empted charge, Minhas smartly darted one quicker and shorter, drawing a wild swing across the line from Abhishek. Wicketkeeper Usman Khan did the rest, completing a sharp stumping to send Abhishek packing for a scintillating 61 off 28 balls (featuring 3 fours and 7 sixes). With Shreyas Iyer now at the crease and Ishan Kishan joining him, India sits at 85/2 as the middle overs commence.

Sanju Samson's struggles with the bat continued as he fell for just 2 off 4 balls, caught by Arafat Minhas off Ahmed Daniyal. Looking to pull a short delivery that angled into him, Samson was cramped for room and miscued it high off the bat, gently looping a catch straight to mid-on.

Young Indian prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's explosive cameo came to an end for 15 off 9 balls—including two towering sixes—when he was caught by Usman Khan off Saim Ayub's bowling. Attempting a cheeky reverse sweep against a quicker delivery outside off, Sooryavanshi seemingly grazed an under-edge through to the wicketkeeper, who managed to safely gather the ball after a frantic series of juggles and chest fumbles.

What an absolute whirlwind of an opening over from Saad Masood! The Pakistan spinner is sent on a nightmare ride as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma launch an early assault.

It all begins when Sooryavanshi puts on a clinic, launching three magnificent, back-to-back sixes off deliveries 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3—highlighted by a stunning lofted heave straight back over the bowler's head. After a quick single rotates the strike, Abhishek Sharma joins the carnage in style, rocking back to pull one monstrous six over mid-on before carving a short, wide delivery over cover for a boundary.

The drama peaks on the final delivery (1.6) when a wayward wrong 'un past the tramlines is initially signaled wide, then upgraded to a no-ball for crossing the return crease. With 24 runs coming off the over and a Free-Hit up next, India's openers have exploded out of the blocks!

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has faced Pakistan across various age-group and developmental levels (including Under-19 and India A fixtures), but he has yet to play an official international match for the senior Indian team against Pakistan. His senior India debut came during the T20I series against England in July 2026.

When India and Pakistan last faced each other in T20 Internationals during the group stage of the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Colombo, India secured a commanding 61-run victory. Powered by Ishan Kishan's explosive 77 and a disciplined bowling attack, India successfully defended a total of 175 by bowling Pakistan out for 114.

India is scheduled to play Pakistan in the group stage of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027 on October 10, 2027. The high-profile fixture will take place at the DP World Wanderers Stadium in Sandton, South Africa.

The medal presentation ceremony for the cricket event at the Asian Games will be graced by a distinguished panel of sports administrators and dignitaries, featuring ICC President Jay Shah of India, Nisshin City Mayor Hiroki Kondo of Japan, and National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka Vice President and OCA Executive Board Member Mrs. Nilo Jayatolake.

India and Pakistan have faced each other in 17 T20 Internationals, with India holding a commanding advantage by winning 14 matches while Pakistan has secured three victories.

Unlike traditional tournament formats, the Asian Games T20 cricket competition typically awards joint bronze medals to both losing semifinalists rather than a dedicated third-place playoff. Consequently, if a gold medal match is entirely washed out without a ball bowled or a result achieved via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, the tournament rules dictate that the two finalists share the gold medal, eliminating the need to award a separate silver.
