After fielding for five consecutive sessions over two days, England captain Ben Stokes offered India a draw, which India declined during the last session on Day 5 of the ongoing India Vs England fourth Test match in Manchester.
The incident happened after the 138th over of India's second innings when Stokes offered Indian batters Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar to draw the match then and there.
But Jadeja looked at the dressing room and declined the offer. England players came from all over the place and forced them to shake the hands and went off, but they stood on their grounds.
England captain Ben Stokes offered a draw to the Indian team, but Ravindra Jadeja and Washington, who were on 89 and 80 respectively, refused the offer. Stokes was visibly irritated by the refusal.
As Jadeja and Washington went on to reach their centuries, saving the match for India, Stokes couldn't hide his frustration.
He was overheard sarcastically asking Jadeja if he wanted to score a hundred against Harry Brook, but Jadeja calmly replied, "I can't do anything." With a smile, Jadeja stood firm, knowing India was within their rights to continue batting. Stokes' teammates, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett, also questioned the decision, but Jadeja's composure remained unshaken.
Then Stokes introduced Harry Brook into the attack, and Jadeja hit one boundary. Sundar hit three consecutive boundaries in the next over of Joe Root.
The duo kept adding easy runs as England bowlers looked frustrated and seemed as if they also wanted both batters to reach their personal milestones.
Jadeja reached his second century in England with a six off Brook and looked at the dressing room. No sign of drawn from there.
Sundar also reached his maiden century in the next over of Brook. He completed the double first on the very last delivery of the over and was about to celebrate when Jadeja shook hands, and Gill also nodded for that from the pavilion.
The match ended in a draw. Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar forced a draw for India.
