Good morning cricket fans! We're back with the live coverage of Day 1 of the one-off Test match between India and Afghanistan in New Chandigarh on Saturday, June 6. Stay tuned for the live score and real-time updates of the match here.

The one-off Test between India and Afghanistan will be telecast live on the Star Sports Network and will be streamed live on the Jio Hotstar app and website in India. The live action of Day 1 will begin at 9:30 AM IST, while toss takes place at 9:00 AM.

India and Afghanistan have played only Test match prior to this where the former won by an innings and 262 runs back in 2018 under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane.

Indian skipper Shubman Gill has won the coin toss and elected to bat first against Afghanistan in Mullanpur.

Both Indian openers have looked comfortable on the crease so far and Jaiswal have also hit some sumptuous drive if the ball have been in their radar. There hasn't been much movement for the Afghan pacers so far from the pitch, while the bouncer also have been a bit on the lower side. If AFG don't pick couple of wickets from the new ball, then they could be in for a long day against a strong Indian batting line-up.

While Yashasvi Jaiswal is looking comfortable at the crease, KL Rahul is struggling a bit to come to terms with the pace and bounce of the pitch. However, both batters have managed to overcome the threat of the new red ball and have provided a steady start to India. However, shortly Yashasvi Jaiswal got an edge on a delivery going down the leg side and this time the umpire heard the edge and gave him out and with that Afghanistan got their first wicket of the day.

The first session has gone in India's favor as they manage to put up 96 runs on the board at a run-rate of 3.84 and lost only one wicket while doing so. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was looked pretty fluid poked at one delivery down the leg side and ended up losing his wicket to Saleem Safi for 24. After that KL Rahul (37*) and Sai Sudharsan (32*) put on an unbeaten 55-run stand for the 2nd wicket to get India to a dominant session after the first session.

The second session also comes to an end with India winning consecutive session of the day. Afghanistan could manage to take only one wicket in the entire session and ends up giving 113 runs in 25 overs. Sai Sudharsan was the batter, who got dismissed after scoring a well-crafted 81 runs, while KL Rahul (81*) is gradually getting closer to his century. Skipper, Shubman Gill (20*) has also looked comfortable at the crease.

The pitch has settled down now and the batters is finding it easy to time and place the ball now, which are definitely dangerous signs for Afghanistan.

Looking to shift gears, he threw his hands at a fuller delivery and drilled it firmly through the covers, but the timing proved too good for his own liking. Rahmanullah Gurbaz reacted brilliantly behind the stumps, diving forward to his left to complete a sharp catch.

Rahul stood frozen for a moment in disbelief before beginning the long walk back, while Shubman Gill could hardly believe what he had witnessed from the other end. It is the third successive occasion that Rahul has been dismissed on exactly 100 after reaching three figures.

The wicket also breaks a valuable 67-run partnership as Afghanistan finally find a way through. Rahul departs for 100 off 165 balls, decorated with 11 fours.

Fifty for Shubman Gill! The India captain reaches his ninth Test half-century with a calm single to point, using the pace of a back-of-a-length delivery and guiding it into the gap. It has been another assured innings from Gill, who simply raises his bat to acknowledge the applause before getting back to business in the middle.

Short and down the leg side, Nangeyalia Kharote tries to go into the surface but Rishabh Pant gets across and helps it on its way, only managing a toe-ended pull down to deep square leg. They pick up a single as India keep the scoreboard moving.

A commanding Day 1 for India after Shubman Gill opted to bat on a good surface. KL Rahul (100) and Gill (103*) led the charge with a fluent stand, while Sai Sudharsan (81) and Rishabh Pant (50*) kept the momentum going. India adapted smoothly to red-ball cricket after a busy T20 season, with only Yashasvi Jaiswal falling cheaply. Afghanistan’s bowlers toiled in tough heat but faded late, even delaying the second new ball. India closed in control at 368/3 after 85 overs.
