Chennai Super Kings (CSK) routed Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 5 wickets in match 53 of the Indian Premier League 2026 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday, May 10.
After being invited to bat first, LSG got off to a flying start courtesy of Jos Inglis' blazing fifty. Inglis slammed a 18-ball half-century as LSG finished the powerplay at 91/1.
When it was looking that LSG is aiming for a mammoth first innings total, Jamie Overton brought CSK back in the game by picking the key wickets Josh Inglis and Rishabh Pant in an over.
LSG faltered in front of disciplined bowling from CSK in the middle overs and left reeling at 147/6 in 14.2 overs but a handy knock of Shahbaz Ahmed off 43 from 25 balls took LSG over 200 runs.
In response, CSK were also off to blazing start with Urvil Patel smashing LSG bowlers to all parts of the ground. The Gujarat batter smacked a record 13-ball half-century to get CSK to a commanding position in the chase.
Patel played a blistering knock of 65 off 23 balls including two fours and eight sixes. Once he got out, LSG made a mini-comeback but despite a brief jitter in the middle, the Yellow Army eventually chased down the target in the last over with 4 balls to spare.
Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first.
